There are a wonderful variety of room choices at this incredible Polynesian resort. It has 13 beach bungalows that are spacious, located on the seashore and well furnished. The most amazing part for children is the Overwater Bungalows that are equipped with a glass coffee table for you to admire the underwater world just below your feet in a natural aquarium. There are 28 Garden View Rooms nestled among fragrant gardens and a variety of exotic plant species along the mountainside.
This French Polynesia accommodation is ideal if you come to Bora Bora on a limited budget. There are also oceanview rooms. The resort has two restaurants onsite and additional food and beverage service. There is laundry service, rental of electric bicycles and traditional bicycles, gift shop, medical assistance, and complimentary kayaks, canoes and snorkeling equipment.

Stayed 5 nights - this is my first visit to Bora Bora and it will not be the last. The Maitai took a little of getting used to, I stayed in a standard room on the hillside of the road behind reception. It didn't take long for me to warm to this property and it was the space I encountered on this side of the road. It would be different for the seaside properties and over the water bungalows - that is not where I stayed. I was on the ground floor of the block behind reception so my review is based on that room - this was great, it was spacious, very clean a little dated, but very nicely kept presented and I enjoyed my days and nights here.
Room servicing was a noticeable aspect of this hotel, something I don't often notice because it just happens but at the Maitai I thought the invisible staff that serviced my room approached their work with care and quality.
I like being close to reception, which I was but I didn't feel that this room was exposed to busy activity.
The Maitai is close to two supermarkets or grocery stores, very good ones too. There are other restaurants near by, and it is two minutes walk to Matira Point.
The entire property was nicely kept, and the staff tried their best to be communicative with a non-French speaking person like me. Though English is well spoken by key staff here and at the Restaurant and Bar when you need help.
Breakfast came with the room and this was great. The selection of cold and hot foods was very good.
Restaurant service is great, food is very affordable, much more so than I encountered on Moorea or Papeete. I ate in all the time. For price, there was no need to eat out. Meals were excellent, presented nicely and service was very quick.
This place could be mistaken for being incognito, you are left alone to do your own thing and I felt I had a lot of space including little noise at this side of the road, or running into people all the time.
I would stay here again.

The location of this hotel is good, it has a nice beach and is also close to the big beach Matira. It's in a touristy area with a little trafficated road outside that you have to cross to get to the beach (unless you're in the over water bungalows). The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, but nothing too special. Good value for your money, and an affordble hotel in Bora Bora! I was pleasently surprised when I walked into the room, and our stay was overall very good.
The breakfast was, as usual in these areas, very expensive, but good. The restaurant by the beach is nothing to recommend. We ate pizza there and it was a very tasteless piece of food. We went back (because of laziness) to eat dinner one night, and I chose a pasta dish which consisted of basically only pasta and a tiny, tiny bit pesto. Extremely boring to eat. Another night we went to eat on their restaurant at the hotel bar, and that was also bit disappointing. The food was a bit better here, but nothing special, and the waitress who served us was in very bad mood which made the whole impression worse.
The wifi connection works only in the reception/restaurant/bar area, and not in the rooms, but it also kind of works on the beach, which was a big plus (especially for us having been isolated with useless wifi on another island before coming here ;)).
The staff was really friendly and always did their best to help us with whatever we needed. So all in all - good value for your money, great location and service level, but not the best restaurant options.
