Marriott’s Shadow Ridge features spacious guest rooms, and one- and two bedroom villas with fully equipped kitchens and living and dining areas. The resort features a pool with a waterslide and kiddie pool, 18-hole golf course at the Shadow Ridge Golf Club and family-friendly on-site dining at Nick Faldo’s Bar and Grill. Families can visit local attractions including the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, Knott’s Soak City featuring lots of water rides, a wave pool and lazy river, and Boomer’s, which offers bumper boats, mini golf and a rock wall.

Marriott’s Shadow Ridge I is a time share rather than a hotel per se. as a time share resort, it has many restaurants and amenities, etc. it’s showing it’s age a bit. However, we stayed there as a hotel, so that’s how I’ll review it.
I’ll use my checklist for hotels to simplify my review as well as be as complete as possible. Note that these are things important to me Ina hotel.
Location/ accessibility- not the easiest to get to, large & sprawling
Ease to get to room- fairly close to parking lots
Room size- on the smaller side
Space to lay out suitcase- good
Thermostat- AC/heat-easy to use
Bed- firm but comfortable
Desk for working- no desk, a small round table w no outlets, huge negative for me
Chair for desk-regular chair, not a desk chair
Plug for electronics charging on desk- none
USB charging outlets- none
Bathroom vanity-tiny, room for one persons things
Towels- very soft but very thin
Shower size- small deep tub w shower
Hot water in shower- good
Bathroom exhaust fan- good at clearing steam
Age of plumbing- not new but not old either
Shower head height- could be higher
Toilet size, age- low, older
WiFi- strength, secure?- good, unsecured
Coffee maker- fine
Clock- on one side of bed nightstand
Night light- none
Privacy- thin walls
Noise levels- quiet
TV & channels- good
Complimentary water- no
Value- good compared to comparable hotels
At the right rate, I would stay there again.no desk and small vanity, shower are negatives for me.
This is our 3rd stay in a 2 bedroom villa with our daughter, her husband and three children. I agree with other reviewers who recommend top floor, not facing busy Monterrey Street. Insulation is poor and top floor rooms facing golf course are quieter. We like buildings 17, 19 because they are easy walking distance to kids pool with water slide and kids’ center, offering nice craft and food activities. We were in building 22 this time, a little farther away than we like.
We were able to check into our room by 2pm and opted out of maid service in exchange for Marriott Rewards Points.
Food at Grill is a bit pricey and not great, but pretty much the only option for on-site dining. Lots of restaurants within easy driving distance, although weekend crowds make it difficult to get a table without a long wait. Sometimes we grill on the BBQs and that is a nice option.
Overall, well maintained property. Rooms are a bit on the small side and kitchens aren’t all that well appointed for in-room cooking. I think we only had 4 bowls and 5 spoons. We plan to return again, this is a family favorite!
