Overview

Westin is a trusted brand for families looking for destination properties, and the Westin Desert Willow Villas is no exception. The entire property features villa accommodations, ensuring families have room to spread out and enjoy themselves while also enjoying the many activities, programs and amenities offered to them on a daily basis, such as a kids’ club and spacious pool area.

The resort is continuously growing. As of 2015, eight buildings are available, and the resort will be adding one new building per year until it reaches 17 total buildings for accommodations. The resort is expected to be full-size by 2021. Although construction is taking place, it is at the back of the property and away from the resort’s main offerings, so families will enjoy quiet stays both day and night.

With spacious villas and ample family offerings, the Westin Desert Willow Villas is a destination resort, where families can spend a week and never leave the property. But if you do decide to leave the resort, museums, outdoor recreation, shopping and dining are just minutes away.

Relaxing Vacation

by Pam R

Great place that is close to many amenities in Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert. Staff is always professional and helpful. Great pools. Restaurant on property is not the best, but could do in a pinch. Overall a great place to stay.

Great Spot

by Glen P

From its proximity to two great golf courses ( discount pricing if staying there) and comfortable rooms, this place is wonderful. We ere there two weeks. The rooms are well appointed with a big bathroom with a shower and tub, a gas fireplace in the living room and a decent kitchen for cooking. The BBQ’s are abundant. We had grandkids in another unit and lots of activities for them at the kids pool including painting ceramics, a water slide and water volleyball. Looking forward to our next visit.

Family Activities

Swimming Pools
The resort's main pool is the Mirage Pool, open 24 hours a day. Regular and premium cabana rentals are available on the pool deck, ranging from $50 to $100 for a day's rental. The pool features a snack bar; basketball and volleyball nets; a waterslide, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to guests 48 inches or taller; and a fire pit, which is lit at dusk until 10 p.m. A lifeguard is on duty from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The other pool area, Palo Verde Park and Pool, is tucked toward the back of the property and is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Children have a small wading pool area of their own here, too. Families can rent cabanas on the pool deck for $50 on weekdays and $75 on weekends. The lawn near this pool is often used for children's activities.

A small, quiet pool is also located near the back of the resort, but is reserved for adult guests only.

Westin Kids Club
Kids ages 4 to 12 can enjoy a supervised kids' program with indoor and outdoor play during three-hour or hourly sessions. Choose from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. (the club closes for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.), at a cost of $45 per child, per session. Children may attend both morning and afternoon sessions for $90. Hourly programs are $15 per child, per hour. Reservations for the club must be made 24 hours in advance.

Family Room & Game Room
A large communal space for families and kids is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. A Teen Room features Xbox, Wii, air hockey, pool tables and more. Family movie nights are offered in the Family Room on Saturday nights at 7 p.m., with midweek matinees offered at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Scheduled Activities
The resort hosts a number of fun activities throughout the week. For example, kids can learn to make candy sushi, tie dye a T-shirt, create a stuffed bear, design their own squirt gun and roast S'mores over a fire pit. All activities are subject to additional fees. The resort also features two tennis courts with a half court for basketball, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Family Dining

Agave Grill & Bar
The resort's main restaurant is the Agave Grill, which provides casual fare from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Located near the Mirage Pool, guests can dine indoors or outdoors, and enjoy poolside service. The Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids offers options that are kid-friendly and healthy.

The Art of Smart Timing
The resort is located in Palm Desert, which gets extremely hot in the summer months -- temperatures can soar into the 100s! The resort is most booked during the holidays and the summer months, and the best deals will be found in the spring and fall, when the weather is nice.

Families wanting to visit the Greater Palm Springs area can rent a car or utilize the public transit system, which is run by the SunLine Transit Agency.

For Mom and Dad
The resort is nestled around two championship golf courses at the adjacent Desert Willow Golf Resort, a public course. The two 18-hole courses are 72-par and offer 7,000 yards of golf. The concierge desk can make arrangements for tee times.
