Overview

With a relaxing setting, just across from Amsterdam’s greenest space, the Vondelpark, The Neighbour’s Magnolia Hotel, formerly the Hotel Zandbergen, offers a tranquil place to rest after a full day of sightseeing. In this affluent, residential neighborhood, the Vondelpark may be the only place the world where visitors can picnic in front of a Picasso sculpture. There are lots of cafes and restaurants, and owner Henk serves coffee and a buffet breakfast. The benefit of this small, family-run hotel is Henk’s generous advice about how to best take on the city’s sights. One of the shortcuts is to buy museum tickets in advance to avoid lines. Henk sells these onsite. Free Wi-Fi is a treat, and a computer and printer for guests is quite handy. Although there are steep stairs to most of the rooms, there is a family room with four single beds in the basement with a private patio. Baby beds are also available. One downside is no air-conditioning, which can be a problem in the summertime, but guests may request fans.

Great location in Amsterdam

by IndyJames

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel The Neighbour's Magnolia for three nights. The location of this hotel is very convenient. It is a very easy walk to the beautiful Vondelpark where you can walk, bike, and relax. There is also a very convenient train station a short walk from the hotel - Cornelis Schuytstraat. From there, you can easily travel all around Amsterdam. So, the location was ideal. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful during our visit. They were able to provide tips and advice for things to see and do. The breakfasts were also quite good, especially the warm croissants. One other tip, do not drive a car into Amsterdam. On a friend's advice, we used one of the Park and Ride options outside of the city and took the train to downtown. We were able to park for 1 EU per night!
