Overview

After reopening its doors in late 2011 following an extensive renovation, the Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta emerged as a top-tier, all-inclusive paradise resort.

The 270-room property offers guests all the standard amenities and accommodations people have come to know and love from Occidental Hotels & Resorts. In total, there are 156 Deluxe Ocean View rooms, 48 Deluxe rooms with garden views, six one-bedroom suites, three two-bedroom suites, six studios and two penthouses. There are also more luxury rooms for Occidental Royal Club members.

Each room comes standard with air conditioning, a hair dryer, safety deposit box, iron and ironing board, king or twin beds, a full bath and shower, a coffee maker, and satellite television. Cribs are also available upon request.

Located right on the beach, guests are literally feet away from the beautiful Mexico sand at all times. The property contains multiple pools, shuffle board courts, volleyball, water aerobics, a lighted tennis court, water polo and even a kids program. This resort has a little bit of something for everyone.

There are three onsite restaurants — Le Buffet, Los Olivos, La Hacienda Mexicana Restaurant and The Royal Club Restaurant — each offering fare ranging from buffet-style to classical Italian and Mexican. There are three “bars” on the premises, including a Beach Club Bar, lounge and snack bar.

Reviews

an absolutely relaxing stay at occidental nuevo vallarta november 2019.

My husband and I just stayed at the Occidental Nuevo Vallarta. It was our first beach vacation without our kids in 20 years. We were so pleased with our stay.

Our room was clean and upon arriving we had a mini fridge with water, beer and nuts. A plate of apples, oranges and bananas.

The open Lobby was really nice to sit and enjoy a drink in the evening before heading to our room.

You can never go wrong at the breakfast buffet where you have a Omelette station ready to order. What we enjoyed most was the service we received from Mara. Always greeted us with a smile and new how we liked our coffee. Her service was awesome! She greeted us with our espresso and coffee.

Our stay included being at the First class pool where Augustine and Fernando took care of us. Made us our drinks just the way we liked them. Fernando was very hospitable always greeted us and made us laugh. Shout out to Augustine who was always behind the bar but I saw that when he didn't have anyone at the bar he made his way around the pool to ask the guests if they needed anything ( not sure if they were short staffed that day but that was impressive to see Augustine the bar tender come to you)

El mariachi restaurant was pretty good. The Birria was yummy. Luis was our waiter and he was awesome. I was even more impressed after I heard that was like his 2 week there. He was confident and waited on large parties and small parties like "a cake walk".

My only little complaint was that at the Italian restaurant the requirement was men to wear pants. Well its a beach vacation.
Ironically men can enter with sweat pants just because they are pants- questionable if your trying to set a dress code. I even saw a woman with jean shorts with holes all in them but men cant wear nice dress shorts.

The service was great from the moment we arrived- the bell boys were very helpful and knowledgeable about places for us to explore. The first class lounge wear we checked in was awesome. A place to get some quiet time and a good cocktail and excellent service. (the whole team in there was awesome)

The security guards were also very nice, they made themselves discreet but also lended themselves to some conversation and checked in with us to ensure everything was ok I appreciated that.

Hotel is not overly large and makes it quaint
Clean and friendly staff. Beach is excellent for walking, jogging and swimming.
William on the Entertainment Team is Great!
The Italian and Japanese specialty restaurants are excellent but the Mexican specialty needs a little help. We would definitely go again!
