One Ski Hill Place is one of the newer resorts in Breckenridge. The property’s astonishing location, beautifully appointed rooms, top-notch service and family-friendly amenities make it an excellent choice for visitors to the popular Colorado ski town. While rates at One Ski Hill Place aren’t for the budget-minded, the place is perfect for families seeking a luxurious Rocky Mountain experience.
A hotel set smack in the middle of a world-famous ski resort probably doesn’t need to offer an array of onsite family-friendly activities. After all, there’s plenty to do just steps from the lobby, from skiing and snowboarding in the winter to mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding in the summer. But One Ski Hill Place offers an extraordinary selection of things to keep families entertained (without setting foot outside). Teens can play Wii video games on a 60-inch flat-screen TV in a mini-movie theater. Tots can splash around in a perfectly designed kids’ pool. ‘Tweens can spend hours knocking down pins and munching on pizza in a private bowling alley. Mom and dad will love relaxing in the resort’s spa, sauna and steam room.
Another great perk is One Ski Hill’s fabulous location. If your kids are spending the day in ski school, you can relax in the hot tub with a hot drink and watch them learn, while admiring fantastic views of the slopes. Need an extra scarf or some sunscreen? Since you’re staying, literally, on the mountain, trekking back to your room will take mere minutes.

My family and I rented a wonderful ski in/ski out home at the base of peak 8 at Breckenridge. This home came with full amenities to One Ski Hill Place. We were excited to use the spa, bar options and bowling facilities at One Ski Hill. Two of our family members had suffered prior injuries and could not ski but ended up spending a great deal of time at One Ski Hill in the gym, etc. They felt extremely uncomfortable because of a woman named Caitlin at the front desk. This all began Tuesday evening, March 12th. My 23 year old daughter had made bowling lane reservations for all six of us at 6pm. When we arrived at 5:50pm, we were told by Caitlin that we had been moved to 8pm. She couldn't tell us why we were moved nor did she offer anything. She said she "could see that our reservation was moved but didn't know why because the concierge that did it was off". I requested she give us one of the two lanes that they had given to some other family and she said she couldn't do that as they reserved both lanes. She failed to see that her staff had changed a reservation WITHOUT notification and offered no recompense. She also stated that the family that had both lanes at 6pm was staying there in the lodge. I asked if that meant they had priority?! She then claimed it didn't mean that...but why then did she state that? Things get worse...
We did show up again at 8pm, three shuttle rides later. Our bowling lane then broke and they couldn't fix it until 8:20pm. We were only on round 5 of our group bowling when one of the bell hops came in and said we had to leave. I understand that they have to stay on time for guests but the next group had not arrived yet. Also, and this is the worst part, one of our family members wasn't feeling well and had gone out to sit in the lobby when our lane broke down. She overheard Caitlin, the supposed "professional" on site manager of the front desk talking about my family in a completely disrespectful way LOUD enough for the entire lobby to hear.
I confronted Caitlin when I heard about this and she merely shrugged. Caitlin has no business being in the industry. She is completely rude and ultimately horribly unprofessional. She inferred that by renting a home nearby that we were less welcome than people staying in the lodge. Caitlin made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
I did contact her boss, Chris Grusbach, the general manager at One Ski Hill Place. He left one message basically saying he has had no other complaints about Caitlin in three years time. We were disappointed overall in One Ski Hill Place.
I want to add that we live by the platinum rule, to treat people as they would want to be treated. We are by no means disrespectful to anyone in the service industry, as we ourselves have been in the profession. However, Caitlin was SO bad that I had to say something.

My wife and I took our 6 and 5 year old to Breck last week for a quick trip. It was the first time to take the kids skiing. I researched and researched about where to stay because I wanted to make sure that it would be a fun trip with young kids.
I saw all of the good reviews and a few bad ones about One Ski Hill Place. I finally decided to book this place. Thank goodness we did! It was amazing.
The condo (2 bedroom slope side) was awesome. It was actually a 3 bedroom. You could throw a football from our deck to the Rip's Ride lift.
The ski valet made skiing so easy. Brock was fantastic. He would tell us what runs to hit and give us any other advice that he could. Please tip the guy! He's there from very early until very late and he does a great job.
The concierge, Wendy (I think?!), was very helpful in helping us decide what activities to do with the kiddos.
We ended up bowling one evening before dinner. Great time! Kids loved it.
The shuttle to town was so easy. I don't think we ever waited more than 5-7 minutes for it to arrive.
We didn't eat at the restaurant at the hotel so I can't comment on that.
All in all, it was one of my favorite trips that we have taken. Will definitely try to make this a yearly trip!
Families who love to hit the slopes won't find a hotel closer to the lifts than One Ski Hill Place. In terms of convenience and ease, this resort is tops. Ski lessons for kids and adults form in front of One Ski Hill. Four lifts are, literally, a stone's throw away, across from the lobby. One Ski Hill's location will prove priceless when parents need to run back to the room to grab some snacks or if one of the kids decides he or she is no longer in the mood to hit the slopes and wants to retire. There's no need to pack up your things and take a gondola and then a shuttle to get back to home base. In addition, you'll find a private locker room on the resort's ground floor that's perfect for storing skis and boots -- and it has boot heaters!
There are two pools at One Ski Hill Place. Located in the resort's Aquatics Center are a kids' pool with a gradually sloped entry and an adults' soaking pool. There are also indoor and outdoor hot tubs (the latter provides amazing views of skiers flying down the slopes).
The only bowling alley in Breckenridge is located at One Ski Hill Place -- and it's exclusively open to guests of the resort and guests staying at select sister resorts. You'll need a reservation to bowl. There are only two lanes, and the attraction, which is set in a cool mineshaft-themed room, is quite popular. Bowlers can order food and drinks from resort wait staff. We recommend making a reservation as early as possible -- perhaps even when you book your initial reservation at the resort.
Peak 8 Fun Park
During warmer months, when the snow has melted and the birds are singing, there is plenty to do on the mountain in the resort's beautiful backyard. The Peak 8 Fun Park, which opens just steps from One Ski Hill Place when the ski season ends, features tons of outdoor kid-friendly attractions, from a mini-golf course to an alpine coaster (also open during winter) to a mountain bike park.
On cold winter nights, there's nothing better than a warm, private movie theater. One Ski Hill Resort's elegant mini-theaters feature cozy couches with little tables attached to each couch, making it a cinch to snack, surround sound, video game systems and 60-inch HD televisions. Reserve a night in the theater, choose a DVD from the resort's impressive selection, sit back, relax and enjoy.
Ski Hill Grill
The full-service skier restaurant, Ski Hill Grill, is open to the public, and it gets pretty crowded during ski season. A grand fireplace adds to the cozy feel of the place. This restaurant offers menu items that kids will enjoy.
This apres-ski venue has a decor accented with HD televisions. T-bar serves sit-down meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The restaurant is open only to guests of the resort and sister resorts, making it a nice escape from the crowds that clog most other slope-side restaurants.
The Living Rom
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner this casual spot, with oversized sofas and chairs, features Colorado fresh foods.
Grab an espresso or hot chocolate at the cafe and gaze at the gorgeous slope views. The cafe is set just off the Living Room, which gives off an air of high-class with its grand piano. This restaurant is also only open to guests of the hotel and sister hotels.
Planning & Tips
All About the Extras
This is a luxury resort, so, naturally, the concierge and staff at the 24-hour front desk in the lobby will go above and beyond to accommodate families. Traditional onsite kids' programs are not available; however the ski school meets at One Ski Hill, offering onsite skiing activities for kids. The resort concierge can connect families with local babysitting services. In addition, childcare for infants and toddlers is available at select Breckenridge Child Care centers throughout the year.
The Art of Smart Timing
There's lots to do no matter what time of year you're visiting Breckenridge. Rates are always highest (and rooms fill up fast) during winter, when ski season is in full swing. But summertime is also an auspicious season for Breckenridge visitors, who will find an array of fun outdoor activities, from concerts to festivals, going on.
Families seeking the cheapest rates should consider booking during summer or fall, which is shoulder season in Breckenridge.
The closest airports to the Breckenridge are Denver International Airport and Colorado Springs Airport, both of which are about a 90-minute drive from the town.
The ski in and out accommodations make it easy for families to reach the mountain quickly.
For Mom and Dad
The rejuvenation center at One Ski Hill Place is perfect for parents tired from days of hitting the slopes. The center boasts private massage rooms, and it connects to the Aquatics Center with its wonderful steam room and saunas.
