Nice room shame about the damp and mould

by Honestjohn1

Staying here for a wedding. First room allocated smelt mouldy and damp. Large patch of furry mould growing on ceiling by door. Asked to change rooms. Second room still had a smell of dampness and mould but nowhere near as bad with faint patches of mould at junction of ceiling and wall in part of room. Corridor to rooms not air conned and doors to rooms felt like they were sweating!
This hotel needs a serious refurbishment. Can't understand its star rating on trip advisor.
Ruined our stay.

Mazatlan getaway

by MARKNDOT

We had the misfortune of getting a "mountain view" room. We stayed on the 6th floor (top floor) and the street noise was very bad. The view was of a field across the street . The room was nice enough however for the price. The infinity pool was huge and very relaxing not to busy for being the first weekend in July. We had a very relaxing breakfast with amazing coffee at the restaurant downstairs on the terrace which made up for the construction and street traffic going on all day. I would stay here again but only in an Ocean view room. The rates were very reasonable for right on the beach I must say. They are very strict about towels so if you like dry towels and shower daily you will want to insist on getting extra towels at the front desk (doesn't hurt to ask). They request you leave your ID as deposit for a beach towel which we refused to do (i'm not trusting anyone to safeguard my license and risk going to DMV to replace !) so we took the nice towels from our room and made them replace them as we needed.. One in one out. They counted. The restaurant across the street La Casa Country treats you like royalty. Food was good . Get the mocaljete and you wont be disappointed. Also Uber is very inexpensive to take you anywhere you need to go except for the airport you will need a taxi apparently. The El Cid has a lovely breakfast buffet a few blocks away . Its an amazing hotel but a zillion people in the pool just wasn't our idea of relaxing.
