Let me start off by saying we have stayed at the Panama Jack in Cancun several times. And that does not compare at all to the PJ in Playa.
Our stay has been horrible since the moment we stepped out of our transport van.
When we arrived there was 4 bell boys standing outside and no one offered to help us get out. My husband and dad had to take our luggage to the lobby.
Once we arrived at the lobby, the hotel had no evidence of our reservation. They had my parents reservation but not ours. The woman at the front desk stated that she had to look into it. I showed her my online account through PJ and my email, everything was confirmed and current. We also asked to upgrade our room to the beachfront walkout and she said she didn’t know if there was availability. Then she told us to come back at 1 to see if they figured out our room situation. When we came back at 2, they had my parents room ready but not ours, they were still trying to find our reservation. And said we would not have a room until after 4. Mind you we have been traveling all night and had our 3 month old, 3yo and 6 yo. When we finally got our room it was beautiful on the inside. Beware ocean view is not ocean view. It’s partial view with a view of the Hilton mostly. We went back down stairs to ask about upgrading and she said she still didn’t know if there was availability and would take her a while to look. So we just settled.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and beyond clean. The food is delicious. But the service has been horrible
Horrible horrible. Everyone has been cold, rude and short. We try to make conversation and chat it up
With everyone and we get the cold shoulder. The only one who has been providing us great service was Alex our waiter at the Cabana we rented.
There’s no beach but we knew that coming in. We wanted to experience PJ at playa. But now we regret our decision. Save your money and go to Cancun PJ. We have had superb service at PJ in Cancun. Our vacation has been ruined and can’t wait to check out of this place. Will never come back.
