This place had spacious rooms, even with two double beds. A front room had no views, but was clean and quiet. Among its amenities were a mid-size flat TV with cable programs, a mini-fridge, a hairdryer, an iron, and a microwave. An alarm clock displayed the correct time. The Internet worked. The small bathroom had the usual toiletries. Its shower worked fine. A restaurant-bar was on the premises, but it didn’t serve breakfast. Although the place called itself an inn, its layout was identical to an old-school motel. If I were in the area, I might consider another stay.
We booked 2 rooms for our mom’s funeral this past August. One for my sister and I to share and one for my nephew and his son. They couldn’t make it so we called to cancel the week before but were told to check back upon arrival. When we checked in the girl at the desk said she couldn’t refund our money and that she’d talk to Mike the owner. We got one key to one room and noticed the other room we’d been charged for had not only someone else’s name on it but people inside. We would have been happy to not share a room if it hadn’t already been booked... before we got there.
I called reception after we got back from getting things ready for mom’s service. The mailbox is always full but Mike eventually called back and after I listened to how much he hates running the hotel and cooking in the kitchen I asked him about getting a refund on the other room he’d already rented. He said to go to the lobby at 7 am (before my mom’s service) and he’d be there. There was no one there. I waited a half hour and checked again at 8:30 as I left and again the next morning.
These people don’t answer the phone and their voicemail is always full.
I so so wish we’d made other arrangements but it’s hard to plan well when you’re grieving. Every single person who works at this hotel is mopey and irritated.
Don’t stay here if you don’t want to get ripped off. And definitely don’t stay if you’re going to a funeral, want to be in a good mood when you leave or just want to support good honest business owners.
