Although Victoria is unquestionably a beautiful city, some families enjoy being a little more off the beaten path on the island — while still having plenty to do, of course. If that’s the case for you, consider staying in Sooke, a lovely community on the southwestern tip of Vancouver Island. The mild climate lends itself well to outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding, whale watching, zip lining, photography, and more, and community residents add music, sports, and theater productions into the mix of available entertainment.
Prestige Oceanfront Resort is Sooke’s top place to stay, with luxurious rooms, beautiful views of the harbor and mountains, and its refreshing pool and relaxing hot tub. The property is close to plenty of fun local attractions, as well as being only a half-hour drive to Victoria in case you want to spend a day in British Columbia’s capital city. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be enjoyed at the onsite West Coast Grill.

We stayed for one night in October and the hotel is lovely! The lobby is elegant and open, the room modern and yet cozy. The dinner and live music was fantastic but the brunch buffet was just okay (and $25 pp). It was a nice quiet getaway though and we had a good time.

The staff, accomodation and food were delicious! We stayed 2 nights, had dinner at the hotel 2 evenings and it was superb. Excellently located to explore the immediate surrounding areas. We will be back!
