Reviews

Trendy and Modern does not equal well conceived (Note: If you are under 40, disregard this review)

The Line Austin is a hip trendy hotel in a great location. Our room was on the 11th floor facing the lake and the Congress bridge, great views of both.
The hotel is poorly designed with slow service where you are great with vague stairs from their staff. So clearly as a non millennial, maybe i just don't get it. Lets start with the basics. How about a lake front suite with not 1 drawer in it, yes, no chest and not a drawer in the nightstand. Just no drawers. How about a half closet in a suite. Yes their is a full closet, but since half of it is shelves, the hanging rod will hold half adult clothes and perhaps half for clothes for your dog. This is a very pet friendly hotel. How about taking a shower and not having a hook in the back of the shower or even one you can reach outside the shower. The bed is on a platform 6 inches above the ground, so great if your in a Yurt, not so much if you thought you were in a hotel room. If you need a roll-away bed, expect to ask, then ask again...then ask again...then go to the front desk and ask, then ask again, for a total of 7 times. When you get the bed, bring your own WD40 to fix the springs or you will never sleep as the bed is very poorly made and all the springs, and there are a bunch, squeak. Please don't go to the front desk an complain, because they will just stare at you. Finally when you do get the attention of someone at the front desk, just hope their colleague doesn't interrupt them or you won't complete your discussion and that colleague is clearly more important than guests.
So I ask the questions, who designed the functionality in this place? Who trained these people in hospitality?
So if you love hip and trendy and want to go to a Wannabe "W" hotel (The real one is just a few blocks away), then the Line is for you.
Just to confirm i was not losing my mind, i took a poll of several folks who attended the same event as i did and they confirmed my thoughts.

Austin has incredible hotels, but the Line proves you can take cool, modern and trendy to an absurd level.

I’d walk the Line

My stay at the line has exceeded all of my expectations. Starting with location. It is in a fabulous location downtown right on the Congress Street bridge. This gives you easy access to the walk along the river as well as the legendary Austin bats when they are in residence under the bridge. We arrived before noon and were quickly assisted by the valets with our bags and parking our car. Check in was seamless and our room was ready! The lobby is really cool. A very funky vibe throughout the hotel including the guestrooms. The infinity pool is right off the lobby and while it is next to the busy road, you never know it. It’s a lovely space. Housekeeping has been a bit slow, it’s 3 PM and our room still hasn’t been clean. The rooms are quite spacious although a bit dark and there is definitely a lack of Storage space for clothing. Other than that the bathroom is beautiful, the bed is very comfy, and there’s a convenient mini bar in the closet which actually has reasonable prices. It is clearly the wonderful staff that work at the Line that make it special. Everybody I have met here has been so helpful. I would definitely stay here again be it for leisure or business.
