I’d stay there again.

by mjroctober

I realize that my 5 star stay might not be someone else’s experience here, but for the one night I was there, I loved it. I chose it for the reasonable rate and location near an event I was attending. It is very convenient to the Southpark area but I loved that it was tucked away and seems almost hidden. I had a studio room, 6th floor, in a corner. Yes, it’s clearly an older property, but it was clean and nicely decorated. TV could be viewed from bed or turned and viewed from couch. Internet worked well. But the part that I loved most that can’t be easily duplicated: there was a steady rain all night and I could hear it. It was so peaceful where I was and the bed was so cozy. The breakfast was fine...nothing spectacular, but suitable. The staff was helpful and friendly. The other people staying there (and the breakfast area was full of them) seemed content. I actually hated leaving. Thanks for a great night.

Poor

We were excited when my daughters sports tournament in Charlotte listed this property as one of the tournament hotels.

The pictures looked great and we have had many nice stays in Residence Inns.

But this property was a disappointment and I would not stay there again, whatever the rate.

As others have said, the property is badly in need of an overhaul.

Outdated bathrooms, old furniture, plus an odd odor in the hallways.

The staff was nice enough with plenty of smiles and hellos, but that cannot make up for the place feeling tired and untidy.

Worst part of the stay is parking which is offered in two old parking decks on each side of the hotel. Both decks were extremely dirty, and felt strangely disconnected from the hotel since they are shared with an adjacent medical building.

Pedestrian access from the decks to the hotel was not marked or lit well and felt unsafe at night.

Just really no reason to stay here despite being in a good neighborhood for shopping and restaurants.
