Disappointed

by Jaim916

My husband and I had booked a two night stay at this hotel a month before our trip for his birthday. When we arrived at the hotel for check in we were told that they overbooked and were no longer able to accommodate us as “they couldn’t kick out their members”. When asked why we weren’t notified of this prior to getting to the hotel they told us that since we booked through Expedia they didn’t have our phone number. I think that if they cared they could have called Expedia and told them to get in contact with us so that we wouldn’t have been completely blindsided by this upon our arrival. Of course there were no other hotels open in the old port area for the night so they decided to put us up in a hotel 5 miles away that was disgusting and run down. I will say that once I called and complained they at least listened and then put us up in another cleaner hotel but this was also 5 miles from downtown. They compensated us for the first night but I found it interesting that they still made us pay for the second night when they were able to accommodate us at the hotel. They should have agreed to pay for the hotel both nights due to the inconvenience and added stress that it caused. The hotel itself was nice and clean but we will not be staying here again due to the way that this was all handled.

Tried to overcharge

We booked our room directly through their website about a week prior to our trip. The day of as we were getting closer we called to ask about checking in early and they told us that we couldn't get the rate we booked, they would be charging us $40 more per night.
They were able to cancel our room immediately so clearly they had other plans already. Would not recommend.
Fortunately we were able to find a nicer, less expensive room right across the street.
