Excellent choice!

by Cutleskate

My husband and I decided to take a four day trip to the Keys and thought it would be fun to do some reminiscing we decided to stay at the Sands of Islamorada what a perfect choice!when we arrived very late from a bumpy start we were pleasantly surprised our beautiful room waiting for us with the lights on in a very welcoming way we immediately crashed and went to sleep on the most comfortable beds.when we awoke the next morning we were greeted by one of the managers Julie who took time out of her busy day to make us feel special like we were the only guests there. Not only are the grounds well kept but the vibe is that of a true keys experience if you are looking for a laidback “keysie” place than the Sands are for you!The dock and boat landing are temporarily closed due to hurricane Irma but will be reopened by next year or sooner depending on the permits but the water is beautiful you have a lovely pool and hot tub and absolutely spotless well equipped accommodations. We are already planning a return trip and I would highly recommend this motel to anyone that wants a special place to relax without all the frills and crowds of a bigger resort .

Great place to stay

by JJCBBB

Some of the bad reviews I saw recently seem to perplex me. This place is a very well taken care of in my opinion. Julie and her husband are on premises. They live there. So if there is a major problem while you are staying there they will take care of it for you. They do have a business to run and when people push for extra stay without wanting to pay for it, when people sneak extra family in their rooms at night hoping no one will see them so they do not have to pay for the extra people, and then when they get caught they post bad reviews on the facility because Julie was doing her job is just a shame to me. One person said this place was a dump in reviews. The fact is that if you check like facilities in the area you will find it the nicest.
Now I was just there for 3 days and it is a great place for anyone to go to to get some peace and quite and enjoy their piece of the keys The Sands of Islamorada. Please check this place out. I just met Julie for the first time but I have to admit I do have a large piece of history at this facility. I have been coming there since 1975. I can tell you that it is in the best shape and looks the nicest I haver seen it. I have been fortunate in my life to stay at some very expensive places but none of them equal the charm and history that this one has to offer. So Julie keep up the good work. I will be back to stay as soon as I can.
