Secret Harbour Beach Resort is a secret we’re willing to share. The charming resort is tucked away on a quiet stretch of beach in St. Thomas, and features condos with full kitchens and balconies. It doesn’t offer many resort-style amenities — that’s part of the charm — but does have a dive center with water sports rentals and two onsite dining options.

Its location near Red Hook makes it easy to hop a ferry to St. John, just 15 to 20 minutes away. The hotel is also located at least 30 minutes from the St. Thomas Cruise Port, allowing guests to avoid most of the crowds when the ships are docked.

+ & - Great beach view, good eats for Happy Hour, other.

by TinaLuv2Travel

I most enjoyed being able to swim everyday & snorkel in the lovely ocean right outside our door. The Sunset Grille offers a "Happy Hour" Daily from 4-6pm, including 1/2 off Appetizers & Special Drinks, which we took advantage of many days, due to the higher prices in the area at most stops, friendly staff overall. We had a 3rd floor Beach View room that was sufficient for our needs, but the balcony view was my favorite. Unfortunately on our last day, we all woke with red spots all over our body. My family thought bed bugs, but I don't have proof to such, so I really hope that wasn't our case. We still have spots & itch, but I steam cleaned all our clothes & luggage, so hopefully things get back to normal. The one thing I wasn't fond of, a stray Black Cat would hang out downstairs on the ledge near our room. The poor thing had seen better days & when I mentioned it to the Front Desk, they assured me that it's just the Resort Stray & random guests will feed it from time to time. They do offer one pool for all guest buildings, which was a hike from our location, but each evening, my son & I had the pool to ourselves, no one seemed to use it or know it was there. The hot tub just inside the pool, seperated but part of it, did not work however, so no heat & when pushing the button outside, nothing happened, no bubbles, nothing, but the pool was fine, went to about 5'10 or so. I could stand at the end & the pool area had plenty of seating & a nice ocean view. Clean outdoors.

Wonderful staff

by Deshawn94

I am in room 123. The room is nice and feels like home away from home. I have to say the staff is wonderful. Raquel at the front desk is a gem! She’s so helpful and wants to make your stay here a pleasant one. This is my second day of five and had to write a quick review for this resort. Thanks, Raquel!

Family Activities

The hotel is located on a small stretch of beach that's quite calm and relaxing, and far removed from the crowds at the Port of St. Thomas. Since all beaches in the U.S. Virgin Islands are public, some -- but not many -- passengers will visit the beach at the resort.

Dive Center
Located onsite, Aqua Action Dive Center offers diving experiences, plus other water sports equipment that includes kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear.

Family Dining

Sunset Grille
Sunset Grille isn't affiliated with the hotel, but is conveniently located onsite and a treat for hotel guests. Guests enjoy upscale, al fresco dining with ocean views, along with seafood and steak specialties. The restaurant offers an extensive wine list, as well. It is open for dinner only, 5:30 to 10. We recommend it for families with teens, though all children are welcome.

Cruzan Beach Club
Cruzan Beach Club serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails outside, with plenty of shade available. It's open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and a kids' menu is offered.

Grocery Service
You can order groceries prior to your trip (additional fee) so that you don't need to worry about shopping once you arrive. Otherwise, you can head to nearby Red Hook for any necessities.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi is free at the resort.

Gift Shop
While it isn't affiliated with the hotel, there's a gift shop onsite that sells toiletries, snacks, beverages and gifts, such as shirts and tree ornaments. It's open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Fitness Center
The resort has a small fitness center with cardio machines, free weights, universal machines and a view of the beach. It is open 24 hours.

The Art of Smart Timing
All hotels in the U.S. Virgin Islands -- Secret Harbour Beach Resort included -- are busiest during the winter months. Families may enjoy fewer crowds and lower rates with a visit in the summer or fall months.

Getting There
The resort is about 45 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport, the only airport on the island. You will need to rent a car or get a taxi, but be aware taxis charge per person and the trip can become very costly depending on how many people are in your party.

Getting Around
You can call a taxi, though we suggest a car for your trip so you're able to explore St. Thomas. Parking is free at the hotel.

For Mom and Dad
Make a reservation at Mafolie, which overlooks the harbor in St. Thomas. The charming restaurant specializes in seafood and steaks. Try the Lobster Bisque and Caribbean Conch Fritters (some of the best on the island). You might also enjoy a quiet dinner and lovely views at Sunset Grille, located onsite.
