Felt outdated, charged for broken mini fridge

by javolkma

Stayed at the Sheraton Cleveland Airport and didn’t feel like it lived up to the Sheraton or Marriot brand. First of all, love the convenience of the hotel next to the airport when I couldn’t get a room downtown during the start of a conference. Stayed here one night and then transferred. Was slick to walk to the hotel from the airport, but directions were difficult to find. Ended up walking through the parking ramp, dragging my suitcase down a street, over some grass, and then to the front door. Found out there was an easier way once I checked in. I loved the view from my room of the airport, but the windows were all fogged over and the room had an older/stale feeling to it.

My most frustrating part is that there wasn’t a mini-fridge. Being a Type 1 Diabetic, I need one to keep insulin cool. Ordered a fridge to my room, paid $10, and it was an old-beat up dorm like fridge. However, in worse shape than what you could purchase cheap at Target during Back to College time. The fridge didn’t work, at medium setting it froze a yogurt and sadly my insulin too. That was an expensive and very frustrating loss on my end.

Would I recommend staying here, only if other places are booked and you need a room for one night near the airport.

Marriott is disappointing

by DWtsn

Tonight's stay has been the epitome of why I am a Hilton Diamond Member and will continue to favor the Hilton Hotel chain over Marriott properties.

Since Marriott has become Marriott Bonvoy, they've also become CHEAP. Tonight's fiasco is a prime example;

1- The van driver "times out" at 8pm and the "airport only van" cannot pick me up from the restaurant the other van driver drove me to.

2- The restaurant is packed so I have to Uber back to the hotel and I eat at the bar/restaurant. I ordered a "wedge salad" and fish & chips. The salad was advertised as having lettuce, tomatoes, onions and blue cheese crumbles. However, my salad had lettuce, tomatoes, onions, more onions, more onions and ever more onions. But NO blue cheese at all except for a very bad tasting, store-bought blue cheese dressing. You can't hide the fact that you did NOT put blue cheese on a salad by burying it in onions!!

3- Finally, relaxing in my room it started getting cold. So I turn the heater on at 70 degrees. It turns on, gets warm, I'm happy. Then it gets cold again. I turn the heater up to 71. It turns on, gets warm, I'm happy. Then it gets cold AGAIN. I turn it up to 72. it turns on, gets warm, I'm happy. Then it gets cold AGAIN!!!!! I check my thermometer on my flight bag and it's 68 degrees in the room!! But at this point I have the heater turned up to 75. And it WON'T TURN ON!!!! I finally figure out how to put it into VIP mode so I, the paying customer, can ACTUALLY control the temperature in the room that I AM PAYING FOR.

Everything about Marriott properties is about saving money. it's not about comfort or convenience. It's just about money.

This is why I will continue to stay at Hilton properties and will always request the same through my company.

P.S. The front desk staff were WONDERFUL!!!!!
