Renovation starts next week

by Pittsburgh_cyclist

I’ve stayed in several Staybridge Suites and this was by far the worst. To be fair, the receptionist did apologize and explain that the renovation starts next week. I’m also aware that the hotel isn’t charging top dollar right now. Even so, several things are below par. The evening social hour had poor food, the plates were paper and the glasses were plastic - less attractive to use and worse for the environment than washable alternatives. The room was poorly equipped. The hot selections at breakfast were very limited even youth the hotel seemed quite busy.
Overall this was a disappointing experience and I can’t recommend the hotel unless the price is completely irresistible.

A suite for the price of a room

by 15miker125

Rooms were very nice with a kitchen, living and work area with a seperate bedroom. Staff at check-in were very friendly and we got a top floor suite with a view of the lake. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator and freezer with an ice maker. It was really nice not having to go down the hall for ice.
Now the down side. We stayed 3 nights and housekeeping never cleaned our room. We checked in on a Saturday. There was a sign in the room noting if you wanted housekeeping over the weekend you needed to request by 5 pm on Friday. Okay, we could get by on Sunday without it. Monday we were out all day and came back to the room late only to find out it had not been cleaned. I was tired and wanted to go to bed so we didn't call for it then.
The breakfast is too small. On Sunday there was no place to sit for breakfast. Also the staff did not keep things stocked, nor were they very friendly. There were no cups for coffee and the egg and bacon trays were empty. Waited about 10 minutes before they brought more out. Breakfast on Monday and Tuesday was less crowded so there were places to sit and the trays were stocked a little better.
If you stay for the room and not the breakfast, the hotel if pretty good.
