We only arrived today into room 110. Although James was lovely and very informative, when we entered our room at the first instant it smelt lovely. However, the smell changed into a thick musty aroma. The room is very old fashioned with a brown drab nylon carpet and a very small flat screen tv. The furniture is made up of oddments with an old fashioned office chair, a light wood table with filthy chairs. The ring on the cooker is sticking up and the fridge freezer has dirt at the base with scuffs. There is a marble top coffee table which is equally old fashioned. We are stuck here 5 nights and not happy. I don’t know what to say except I’m so unhappy and the fact we are tied here is upsetting.
Arrived just as Dorian was making landfall in Bahamas. The staff was very friendly and helpful, from Leslie at arrival to James giving us ideas and pointers on what to see and do. The room was clean and quiet. The pool was clean and very nice with plenty of sun chairs and umbrellas if you wanted shade. Our room had a kitchenette and although we planned to eat out most of the time, it was very convenient for morning coffee (fresh breakfast items supplied daily) and for the occasional snack after a couple of hours at the pool. There were bicycles, paddle boards and Kayaks available - we only used the bicycles because we were new to Sanibel and wanted to explore as much as we could. We thought that the Sunset Beach Inn was a very good value and we will definitely stay here again.
We stayed over the Labor Day weekend, which we found out is the end of summer season so some of the local restaurants were either closed or were closing 1 September. There were still plenty of nice ones to try and James at the front desk was very helpful with suggestions.
