Not Quite Ready For Prime Time

by MatthewSBooth

This hotel appears to have been recently remodeled. And while it looks great in the photos, after spending a weekend here, it is clear that lots of corners were cut during the remake process. Nothing major, just a lot of little things. They went cheap on the beds and many of the amenities that I would normally expect at this price point were missing. 4 star prices in a 2.5 star hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. At $100 a night, this hotel would have been great, but at $200, it left a lot to be desired. For a few more bucks, you can stay at the Westin down the street which is a big jump in quality.

Nice hotel and spa downtown

by 899marvinc

Visited The Chattanoogan for a relaxing 3 day anniversary break. My wife loved the spa and I was able to just relax around the property. It is located with easy access to downtown. Staff was very pleasant. Some renovations were underway while we were there but really didn’t impact us.

Family Activities

Indoor Pool
Located on the second floor adjacent to a beautiful rooftop outdoor space and patio, you will find the indoor pool and whirlpool. The pool is a lap pool that ranges in depth from 3 to 3.5 feet. The whirlpool is 3 feet in depth. The pool hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Families will love the locker rooms that are conveniently located next to the pool and the opportunity for parents to switch off relaxing in the steam rooms and saunas. Small children will enjoy splashing in the pool while older children can swim the length of the pool and relax in the hot tub.

The Art of Smart Timing
The Chattanoogan receives a lot of business traveler traffic due to it's proximity to the convention center and downtown. Because of that during the week it typically is at higher capacity then weekends but that can vary by time of year and if there are events going on in the city or weddings. The best time for low rates would be with the exception of holiday weekends during the winter specifically January-April.

Getting There
The Chattanoogan is about 20 minutes from Lovell Field Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. The hotel does not provide a shuttle, but there are taxis available at the airport or rental cars. Most people will choose to drive into town regionally. Having a vehicle will come in handy when visiting attractions such as Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, and Rock City.

Getting Around
The Chattanoogan is located downtown and is walking distance from many great restaurants and just a few blocks from the heart of downtown. However, most family-friendly attractions are a short driving distance away so having a car will be useful. The hotel offers valet parking as the parking garage is a walk from the hotel.

Parking
Valet parking is available and recommended at The Chattanoogan for convenience and ease for $14 a night. Self-parking is also available for a charge of $8 per night.

For Mom and Dad
The Foundry Lounge is a great place for mom and dad to sneak away a bit and enjoy a drink, live music (Friday and Saturday nights), billiards and table shuffleboard, and snack on a limited menu of appetizers and light entrees. Happy hour is from 2 to 7 p.m. and the Foundry is open from Sunday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Spa at the Chattanoogan is also a fantastic place to sneak away for both mom and dad to enjoy some quiet and serenity. From full body massages or signature body treatments like the Lookout Mountain Mist Masque and Massage, there are plenty of options to choose from. Dad will enjoy the Gentlemen's Corner treatments, such as Urban Man Hot Towel Facial and Urban Man Muscle Melt Treatment.
