Situated on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the lodge is centrally located in the Grand Canyon Historic District. The 55 rooms here are simple: two queen beds or one king, and air conditioning is not an option. However, for a hotel with some of the best access and views of the Grand Canyon, the Thunderbird is hard to beat. Rooms are equipped with TV’s, coffee makers and refrigerators. Guests of the hotel check in at the Bright Angel Lodge.

Without being as famous as the next-door El Tovar nor as quaint as Bright Angel Lodge Cabins, the location here is simply splendid! Situated between the two, you have a choice fir dining options but I recommend you make dinner reservations weeks before you arrive, they fill up quickly.
Most impressively, immediately out your back door is the south rim of Grand Canyon!
It’s pretty hard to beat. The elk passing by, nibbling on the new grass, was an early season bonus. They’ll be in the woods by now I expect.
Look, I think most folks have noticed that this is a national park hotel. It has a little smell, but that's because it uses a non-traditional AC system. The shower nozzle is a tad low. The room was clean and comfortable, The view is really killer. My family would stay here again.
