Situated on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the lodge is centrally located in the Grand Canyon Historic District. The 55 rooms here are simple: two queen beds or one king, and air conditioning is not an option. However, for a hotel with some of the best access and views of the Grand Canyon, the Thunderbird is hard to beat. Rooms are equipped with TV’s, coffee makers and refrigerators. Guests of the hotel check in at the Bright Angel Lodge.

We recently stayed here for two nights and the location is everything. There is not a substitute for being in the parks and having the rim at your back door, especially when we saw the long line of cars coming in through the south entrance on the day we left.
After the daytrippers leave in the late afternoon, it is incredibly peaceful.
The room itself was clean and comfortable with most modern amenities such as coffee and fridge. Wi-Fi was fine. The bathrooms are small, but functional. We didn't come to the Grand Canyon to stay in a room. However, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
We rented two interconnecting rooms for a family holiday. The location is superb, literally 50 yards back from the canyon edge, with numerous touches to bring the comfortable rooms up to date. All the staff were friendly throughout. The only glitch (and I know we shouldn’t be on our phones there!) was the very patchy Wi-fi for when back in our rooms.
