A far near place!

The hotel stays at the National Reserve however is far from the park. 1 hour by car. But, if you're not relying on staying inside the park (especially because of the price), the lodge is a great option. Although it's far, the accommodations are good. The staff is really nice and efficient and the area is really beautiful. There is a local restaurant right nex to the hotel that saves the day (there aren't any food at the park). If you're going to Yosemite, I totally recommend it!

Location, Location, Location but very disappointing rooms

Of course the location is good, you are some what limited. Rooms did not look like the current photos. First issue was the filthy carpet by the door as you walk in. Followed by the T.V. remote did not work and you had to change everything on the back of the T.V. manually. Then the hair dryer did not work and one of the beds was "swayback" leaving me with a backache. But the most annoying was the water shut off during a shower. My husband had to go down to the office about 9:45 p.m. (office closes at 10:00p.m.). The person at the desk had no idea why the water shut off but said other people were experiencing the same problem. The water did eventually come back on later in the evening. For some reason I think the water issue is not a new problem.
The only positive was the great restaurant next door, the Buck Meadows Restaurant. The food was really good, service was great and the people were very friendly. Would not recommend this motel though, but highly recommend the Buck Meadows Restaurant if you are in the area.
