Our amazing Bahamian vacation was one of our best family vacations ever. Our busy lives make it difficult to spend more than a few hours of quality time together , We like to take a week each year to reconnect, bond and laugh with our kids every
more +year. This last year we chose the Bahamas. The Island Seas Resort fit our needs. We stayed in a an amazing one bedroom ocean view condo. From the moment our plain landed we felt right at home. We took a cab to our resort, the interior of the island is not all that spectacular, and had us wondering what the heck. But once we reached the sandy shores of this island paradise we realized what all the hype was about. Check in went off with out a hitch and the helpful staff had us in our room in no time. After assessing our new holiday home, we headed straight to the beach.
The powdery white sand beach at the resort was calling our name. The Caribbean waters were calm and tranquil. We immediately set up camp in our lounge chairs kicked back and enjoyed. The boys 8 and 14 had a blast running up and down the beach with their skim boards, building sand castles and to our amazement snorkeling right from the beach. Now their wasn't a reef but their were very large angel fish swimming all around us. They were very pal in color and we probably wouldn't have known they were their if we hadn't put our masks on and looked around. The beach had a thatched hut restaurant called Zonks. Zonk fixed us an incredible conch salad and a few drinks for me and my husband.
We took a private snorkeling trip with Lil B fishing. Captain Less took great care of our family we snorkeled off Treasure reef and Rainbow reef, the fish were abundant and sooo colorful! It was breathtaking! Captain Less then took us to a sand bar where we dove for sand dollars, which was the most spectacular thing I have ever done! After we finished for sand dollars he took us lobster hunting. We went to a deep ledge where Captain Less took my oldest son free diving and lobster spearing. My husband couldn't take it and had to get in and join them. Myself and my 8 yr old son stayed on deck and soaked up the sun.
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the town so we decided to head down and check it out. The town was very colorful with all the island fair, and fun. They had live music drinks in coconut shells, and a great island vibe. We ate at Zorbas a Greek restaurant near Count Bias Square. The food was great and we decided to head back one more time before we left.
We rented a car and explored the island, we headed to several spots on the island. The first place we went was Golden Rock beach, unfortunately we went at high tide and missed most of the beach because it was under water, but we did visit the caves across the street. They were very cool. You could just imagine pirates hiding their loot in them. The caves actually an old burial ground. Creepy but cool!
The next day we decided to go to the other side of the island to Dead Mans Cove. This is a family run beach with a reef very close to the shore. The beach was awesome! Beautiful white sand and at one end it was rather rocky like an old reef. It was so much fun to explore. We found so much wild life. We saw an octopus a ton of baby conch, crabs little fish, for a family from the north it was surreal. The reef itself was incredible also. We swam out to the reef the fish were every where we seen every thing from blow fish to barracuda.
The Bahamas was a great introduction to the Caribbean for my family, we cant wait to get our toes in the sand again but the Bahamas will have to wait for another day, because Aruba and my family cant wait to enjoy another Caribbean adventure.
