Family has been staying there since it was Ledine's back in the 1950s. My grandfather used to have a fishing trailer there.

Took my sons to AKN in Aug 2013 for a week long fishing trip. Great cabin in Aspen Lodge. Great boat rental, drinks at the old bar, and access to Kabetogama. I'll be back

So mismanaged! Really disappointing!!

We arrived at the restaurant hungry for lunch before checking in to our room. Lunch took forever as there was one single waitress. Food was good. We asked about checking in and waitress said she would try and help but that no one was around and owners went off to Canada for a vacation. We waited and waited and finally went inside to bar to pay our lunch bill and inquire about her getting us checked in. She said she texted someone but he had not replied. Waiting..... waiting. I went to use the women's restroom and turn the corner to see the men's restroom with the door wide open with the urinals in plain site with some guy with his pants dropped doing his thing! Come on! The door to the women's room is also propped open. I enter a stall and there is absolutely no light. It is pitch dark in this tiny little space where you can't see a thing! It was so dirty!! Meanwhile my husband is still waiting to pay lunch check and still no one to check us in our room. Other patrons are waiting to pay their checks, still waiting on getting a menu and hoping to even have their drinks delivered. Finally a guy walks in and waitress says we need our room key. He has no idea what room we are in. I show him a confirmation with the room number and he hands me a key laying in a pile on top of the counter. It has no room number on it. I asked if this was the correct key to our room and he says he's not sure and hands me three other keys to the other three rooms in the hotel section and says of these will work. He's just handed me access to every hotel room in the building! Omg!
After hiking in the park we could have kicked ourselves thinking dinner would be any better. A different waitress.... but again one waitress! She said there was a bartender on the schedule but failed to show. Other patrons sitting outside have disgusted looks on their faces, no menus, no drinks, bills waiting to be paid. My husband had to finally go get our menus and drinks took 15 minutes. Another family of three looking perturbed took action as the wife went inside and returns 10 minutes later carrying a tray with their drinks. I don't know if she had to fix them herself or just carry them out. It made for a long and disturbing meal. Breakfast.... no way would we chance. Happy to check out and drive to Kabetogama for a great breakfast and fast service. Room was okay. Too warm and cars passing literally feet from the bed outside sliding doors. Wi-fi did not work. Saw many other places to stay nearby and at Kabetogama for our next stay.
