This Hotel is Closed - there is no hotel anymore

We arrived in Iquitos today and we stood outside and rang and rang the door bell and no one came to the door.

We asked someone in a nearby shop and he said it closed several months ago.

We booked with Booking.com and were not advised it had closed.

Don't book this hotel

Gem in the jungle

After checking out Lonely Planet with too many backpacker suggestions, we consulted tripadvisor and the reviews are right-Delfin deserves 5 stars. The hotel is 9 blocks from the center-you won't miss not being there. The area is safe but not too inviting but nor is the city as such. Once you enter, you are in a different world. It felt like OZ. Clean inviting and friendly. We were met by an enthusiastic receptionist who helped us with our bags, showed us the room and made sure we were well settled in. The room- we booked the deluxe one- is nicely appointed and very clean. We were served breakfast in the room by yet another set of young and friendly employees. The hotel is clean and quiet. In the deluxe room the sleeping area is in a glass enclosure which provides more noise protection. You can't beat the staff for friendliness.
