Edgartown Lighthouse

121 North Water Street, Edgartown, 02539, MA

Grab a bit of seafaring history — and a phenomenal view — on Edgartown Harbor’s edge, which opens for visitors May through October. Originally built in 1881 in Ipswich, it was officially made into a station in 1828 in Ipswich, and then moved here in 1939. Rising up 45 feet, the cast iron tower isn’t too high for kids to climb, and affords a phenomenal, 360-degree vantage point of the island’s most compact town and its harbor. It’s also just a quick 10-minute walk from town, past historic captain’s houses, and sits along a terrific bike route, so makes for a nice riding break.
