Located on the bayside of Clearwater Beach and just a few blocks away from the area’s famous white sand beaches, the all-suite Blue Wave Motel offers families many of the comforts of home. The newly renovated hotel is situated between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intra-Coastal Waterway, close to the Clearwater Marina Aquarium and Captain Bligh’s Landing, where families can enjoy a game of mini-golf. There are also a number of water sports operators nearby where you can sign up for jet skiing, parasailing and deep-sea fishing.
The hotel’s roomy suites can accommodate families and groups of up to six or seven people. Each suite has beds with comfortable pillow-top mattresses and a kitchenette equipped with a full-size refrigerator, gas stove, oven, microwave, toaster, pots and pans and a coffeemaker. The hotel also has a barbecue patio, rainforest roof deck and an onsite bicycle rental service. Chairs, umbrellas and towels are all provided for free, too, and you can bring them down to the beach.

My favorite place in Clearwater! We always feel like family with Gayle and Rodney. Small place but it’s the perfect place to stay when you come. Close to everything. You just park the car and you don’t need to use it until it’s time to go back to reality.
We stayed at the Blue Wave solely based on the Tripadvisor reviews and our experience there was everything we hoped it would be. We will definitely be staying there again. The motel location is about 1.5 blocks from the beach and also walking distance to many local shops and eateries. We didn't get in our car from the time we arrived until the time we left, which is our idea of an ideal relaxing vacation. We have a 4yr old and 6yr old and didn't bring a stroller so it's a great location for families.
Rodney, who runs the office during the day, was super energetic with our kids and even surprised them with some fun souvenirs upon our arrival. Every morning he would tell us the list of local happy hours and restaurant specials. He filled our cooler with ice from the office every morning on our way to the beach. There's a mound of beach chairs, umbrellas, etc outside of the office that you can borrow as needed and there's no checking these in and out. Just take what you need and return when done...Such a casual environment.
Our suite was super clean! Each suite has patio furniture, so it was nice to sit outside and mingle with neighbors later at night. The tv's had cable (which was nice for kid channels).
Make sure to stop and see Gayle, who is in the office at night. When you call, she always answers the phone. She was so kind and even mailed us some things we left in our room, and wouldn't accept to be reimbursed for the postage.
If you're traveling on a budget, this is the place for you. Truly the only thing it didn't offer was a pool, but we were traveling to the beach to be at the beach. Better service received here than any other establishment we've stayed in.
