Loved it

by Albyryan

We stayed here during a fantastic holiday in New England last summer and loved it. Comfortable, clean rooms, nice food and absolutely fantastic staff. From the cleaners to the reception desk staff to the dining room we were met with smiles and a warm welcome. Not the fanciest hotel I have stayed in but one of my favourites. Soon after arriving, and realising how close to the water we were, I asked one of the girls on reception if I could hire a fishing rod locally. Within five seconds she thrust a rod and reel in my hand! When I asked if I could buy bait locally, a man - who may have been one of the Brown family - appeared from nowhere and tied an artificial lure to the rod's line. The fishing off the hotel's marina was great. Loads of mackerel and a rod bending striped bass or 'stripey' which put up a fierce fight. Free and delicious coffee from the guest lounge on the deck - unheard of in the UK - and everybody wants to stop and have a chat. Loved this place.

Our recent stay at Brown's Wharf Inn was fabulous! The staff was friendly and the room was so clean and beautifully decorated. The windows opened so you could get the fresh air from the harbor and listen to all the sounds of a fishing village on the Maine coast. It was perfection.
