I was supposed to stay at this hotel between September 13-16, 2019. There was a possibility I would have to cancel so I chose the more expensive room that allowed free cancellation. They still charged the full amount on my credit card. When I attempted to cancel, they were doing system maintenance so I was unsuccessful. Despite several attempts to contact them, I have not been able to get thru or get a refund.
For first timers to the city it was what we wanted and expected. Clean, very friendly staff at all hours of the day and fair sized rooms. Two elevators. Bathrooms seemed new, flat screen TV seemed new, corridors seemed recently decorated. Bed was comfy. We asked for a quiet room and got a top floor one with pleasant city view. Windows need a clean though!
Breakfast buffet was cereals, pastries, muffins, croissants and the like plus different types of egg each day plus bacon or sausage. And waffles! Tea, coffee and juices were available too. Perfect to start the day. Nice touch was iced lemon water available in the lobby all the time.
Location was great too. Ten minutes walk to the bay, 20 to cable car, 25 to Fisherman’s Wharf. Also MUNI bus stops nearby. Perfect for walking and for public transport.
In all, it’s not the Waldorf (nor do you pay for that!) nor is it a cheaper motel. We found it perfect as a clean and comfortable base to sleep, shower and have breakfast before sightseeing. Would recommend and would stay at again.
