Very Good Experience

by RRRice

I stayed here for a USAFA reunion. A nice hotel with good facilities for a conference. For a large dinner, the food was better than expected. For the mixer the day before, it could have been better with a variety of foods (but that is likely the event managers
mitigating costs, and not the hotel).

Room was very good! Large, comfortable, and the bedding was amazing! Good bathroom set-up--comfortable and large. Keurig coffee maker in the room. Folks likely traveling and staying here are on professional trips/events. Thus, for a hotel of this caliber I would recommend upgrading the irons and the ironing board pads. Otherwise, no complaints on the room.

Breakfast was very good, and changed a little every day. I'm not sure I'd be happy paying what they are asking for it (separately), but included in our event package made it worthwhile. Service in the restaurant (during breakfast) was outstanding; for bar events with a full hotel, it should have been staffed a little better--drinks at the main bar took a long time to get and they often confused orders and payments just due to being overwhelmed.

Location of the hotel is superb if you want downtown Colorado Springs, Broadmoor, World Arena, etc. and access to the airport. It is not good for Academy events--I-25 traffic is terrible most times of day, and from the hotel to the Cadet Area took more than 30 mins with any "normal" traffic.

I highly recommend the hotel for business travel and any larger events.

Great Location

The DoubleTree in Colorado Springs is modern, has nice rooms, great amenities, and is walking distance from shopping and other restaurants.

The hotel has a open concept bar and eating area, great for business travelers who want something informal at the end of the day.

The only downside is the distance from the hotel lobby to guest rooms. While one could drive to the back of the hotel, its worth noting for anyone with physical disabilities.
