Drury Inn & Suites is largely based in the South; we wish the value chain could be everywhere. We visited our first Drury Inn & Suites in San Antonio — Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk — and found it to be a charming hotel for families, with all the necessary amenities for a vacation, and then some.
The recently remodeled hotel is set in a prime location on the city’s famed River Walk, with a private entrance available to guests. It also features complimentary breakfast, a swimming pool and free Wi-Fi. Added perks include afternoon popcorn, and complimentary evening receptions with appetizers and drinks (margaritas included). The appetizers are often so filling that they can be considered dinner!
Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk sits adjacent to another Drury Inn & Suites — the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk. The other property is larger, but in terms of location and amenities, they’re one in the same; you can’t go wrong with a stay at a Drury Inn & Suites in San Antonio.

We spent one night at room 301, our view was amazing, we had our little dog and we had a great weekend.
Room: was a family room looking at both river walk and Main Street. very spacious and clean, the bathroom only had the toilet and tub, the sink is outside the bathroom door in a special space. The room is sound proof, no noise at all can be heard from the street, the double glass though has one down side, which is the windows need some cleaning, but other than that excellent! Room has mini fridge, microwave , coffee maker, two TV sets , hair dryer, an iron and board, one extra large bed, and one sofa bed that can sleep two. Microwave did not work but we didn’t call maintenance as our stay was very short.
Staff: very friendly and nice specially the gentleman at check in who also helped us at happy hour and breakfast.
Parking: $17 per night, no problem finding a spot.
Location: Super! Has a private door on the river walk, as well as the public entrance just outside the hotel door, Starbucks at the corner, The Alamo is few minutes walk, Ranger museum, a famous bakery, and many other shops also just around the corner.
Pets: dogs are not to be left alone at room, not allowed in hotel public areas, we asked what if we r going to breakfast, they said we can leave the dog at room only for 30 minutes. In general there was no inconvenience. In all cases staff help u if you would like to bring your food up to your room.
Food: breakfast and happy hour served at a buffet, disposable plates, nice food, breakfast has everything you need, bakery items are not great though, happy hour from 5:30 to 7 pm was happy indeed, lots of nice food and drinks, it is basically a free dinner.
Sometimes you read reviews and you think it can’t be that good ... well it is!!
Fantastic staff throughout the hotel, the breakfast is amazing not your usual cold offering. The kickback at 5.30 with food and 3 free drinks was amazing.
Close walk to everything and the restaurant over looks the river walk which was pretty. We were lucky to have a balcony and watched the cathedral lights from there on Tuesday.
Highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel has a small rooftop pool that's open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. There's also a hot tub.

The 5:30 Kickback is hosted each evening, and includes drinks, such as margaritas and beer, and appetizers like chicken fingers, soup, salad and baked potatoes. The selections are often so filling that they can count as a light dinner!

The Art of Smart Timing
San Antonio bustles with tourists year-round, though it's especially busy -- and very hot -- during the summer months. It's also busy during Fiesta, which takes place every April and includes river parades, kids' events, live music and delicious food. If you can, plan to visit in October, when the weather is pleasantly warm, and there aren't many crowds. You will likely find better rates at the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk during this time, as well.
San Antonio has an international airport, located about 20 minutes from the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk. Expect the commute to be longer if you arrive during afternoon or morning rush hour.
Parking is available for $16 per night -- a fair price considering the hotel's location. You won't need a car to get around downtown, as the River Walk, Alamo and other notable attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. You'll need a car if you plan to go to SeaWorld, Morgan's Wonderland, or the DoSeum, however.
For Mom and Dad
Make a reservation at Boudros -- any local will tell you it's a must-visit restaurant -- and be sure to order the guacamole, beautifully prepared tableside. Boudros is located on the River Walk, so be sure to request a
table outside. Kids are welcome.
