Drury Inn & Suites is largely based in the South; we wish the value chain could be everywhere. We visited our first Drury Inn & Suites in San Antonio — Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk — and found it to be a charming hotel for families, with all the necessary amenities for a vacation, and then some.
The recently remodeled hotel is set in a prime location on the city’s famed River Walk, with a private entrance available to guests. It also features complimentary breakfast, a swimming pool and free Wi-Fi. Added perks include afternoon popcorn, and complimentary evening receptions with appetizers and drinks (margaritas included). The appetizers are often so filling that they can be considered dinner!
Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk sits adjacent to another Drury Inn & Suites — the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk. The other property is larger, but in terms of location and amenities, they’re one in the same; you can’t go wrong with a stay at a Drury Inn & Suites in San Antonio.

Excellent hotel located right on the riverwalk. Very friendly staff. Nice room with a terrace. Can’t beat the free breakfast and happy hour with food served every evening. Will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed one night at the Drury while in San Antonio for the lantern festival. Parking is a little bit of a hassle. The parking deck entrance is down a narrow alley and you HAVE to check in before entering the parking deck because you need your room key. If you don't know thta like we didn't it will make for a very stressful backing down the parking ramp and hoping no one is behind you.
Check in was quick and easy. All of the staff members were friendly.
The happy hour was impressive. Lots of food and you get three free drinks
Breakfast was also great. Lots of options for hot and cold options.
Fitness center was lacking, but I just needed a treadmill so my needs were met. Had you wanted to do more you may have been kind of limited.
Location is fantastic! Right on the Riverwalk and only about an 8 minute walk to the Alamo. Hotel was clean and mostly quiet.
The hotel has a small rooftop pool that's open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. There's also a hot tub.
San Antonio River Walk
The hotel is located right on the River Walk, with a private entrance available to guests. Be sure to take a boat tour with Rio San Antonio Cruises, an iconic experience in which you'll take in the sights and learn about the history of the area -- a perfect introduction to your visit.
Breakfast is served in an open room next to the lobby, and includes the works: eggs, make-your-own waffles, pastries, fruit, cereal, coffee, juice and more. It is served 6:30 to 9 a.m., Monday to Friday, and 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The 5:30 Kickback is hosted each evening, and includes drinks, such as margaritas and beer, and appetizers like chicken fingers, soup, salad and baked potatoes. The selections are often so filling that they can count as a light dinner!
The hotel serves complimentary popcorn and soda daily, 3 to 10 p.m. -- a nice perk to enjoy after a busy day spent exploring.
Planning & Tips
All About the Extras

The Art of Smart Timing
San Antonio bustles with tourists year-round, though it's especially busy -- and very hot -- during the summer months. It's also busy during Fiesta, which takes place every April and includes river parades, kids' events, live music and delicious food. If you can, plan to visit in October, when the weather is pleasantly warm, and there aren't many crowds. You will likely find better rates at the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk during this time, as well.
San Antonio has an international airport, located about 20 minutes from the Drury Inn & Suites Riverwalk. Expect the commute to be longer if you arrive during afternoon or morning rush hour.
Parking is available for $16 per night -- a fair price considering the hotel's location. You won't need a car to get around downtown, as the River Walk, Alamo and other notable attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. You'll need a car if you plan to go to SeaWorld, Morgan's Wonderland, or the DoSeum, however.
For Mom and Dad
Make a reservation at Boudros -- any local will tell you it's a must-visit restaurant -- and be sure to order the guacamole, beautifully prepared tableside. Boudros is located on the River Walk, so be sure to request a
table outside. Kids are welcome.
