This hotel is awful. It’s on the river walk, but it’s in bad need of a remodel on the dark, dated rooms. Bathrooms are dated. Pool is so tiny that water is hot—hot pool is bad in June in Texas. Front desk clerk and one housekeeper cared; other employees did not. A loud party down the hall was probably the cause of the vomit smell in the elevator. And breakfast was awful. By time you add taxes and $31 to park, this was an expensive endurance test.
The two main reasons we picked this hotel are the large rooms and handicap pool lift in the pool.
We stayed at this hotel May 29 to June 3 2019. This was our second stay here.
The spacious living/kitchen/separate bedroom area is exactly what we need to accommodate our son in a wheelchair. We enjoy the complimentary daily breakfast, social dinner for 3 nights, easy access to the Riverwalk. The staff was nice and very helpful.
At the valet parking (no parking lot), we were told that they can not park handicap vans. Called a supervisor, the attendant misunderstood the rule and apologized.
Once the handicap elevator on the main floor of the hotel to the street level not working, battery dead. Exited through the valet/garage.
Pool lift not working. Clerk nicely said that the handicap guests know how to work the lift. The lift remote and ½ of the safety belt was missing and battery was dead. Will be fixed in 2 days~ past out check out date.
I spoke with GM Todd who listened attentively, was understanding, apologetic, immediately addressed the situation. I suggested that the pool lift be a part of the daily maintenance routine as it should be working for someone needing it.
My husband said a man informed him we would be compensated for this disappointment but I have seen it that I know of.
My son did not miss out as our adult daughters assisted us (4 person manual lift) in putting him in the pool.
I'd stay at this hotel again~ absolutely! The positives outweigh the negative.
