Reviews

Great Hotel

by wildgoatbistro

Everyone was so friendly, the location is perfect it is right buy stop number 5 for the on and off water taxi shuttle.
The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. Rosa Lopez was our housekeeper, she was the most friendly and accommodating housekeeper I've ever met. The hotel has really high end boutique feeling, the location is close enough to all the action stops on the river and at the same time it's in a very peaceful and beautiful area. We were very happy with our choice and would definitely stay here again. The Pearl was our favorite place to visit, it's just a 30 minute boat ride away with the most peaceful beautiful views on the river.

Just average

by SunshineLL

I was excited to stay here while on business. I have also stayed at 2 other Riverwalk hotels in the past. This one seemed just average. The quality of the room was average. I had to call the maid service to come back and clean my room. The valet was busy but nice. I was not offered water on check-in. It was an average stay and I was hoping for a little more for the cost. But, location is good and helped with convenience while on business.

Family Activities

Pool
The hotel has a rooftop pool that's surrounded by chaises and chairs. It's a relaxing oasis for families, especially after a busy morning in the heat. The pool is open seasonally, with a pool bar that serves food in the spring and summer.

Westin Kids
Kids ages 4 to 12 are welcomed with a book of local recommendations in San Antonio, courtesy of Westin Kids.

Zocca
Zocca is the hotel's signature restaurant, open to both hotel guests and the general public. Gluten-free options are available, as is a breakfast menu that includes traditional favorites like eggs Benedict and French toast. Kids aren't forgotten either; a separate kids' menu delivers peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese, chicken crisps and more.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is $9.95 per day, with an additional charge for high-speed access. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby and restaurant. It is also free to SPG Members -- sign up, it's free!

Fitness Center
WestinWORKOUT brings a deluxe fitness center to the hotel, with cardio machines, free weights and a nice view of the pool. Work up a sweat before cooling off in the sparkling pool! The fitness center is available 24 hours with a room key.

Gift Shop
The hotel has a small gift shop that sells a nice collection of souvenirs, plus toiletries and other essentials. It's open until 11 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Art of Smart Timing
Despite its large size, The Westin fills to capacity practically any time of year. The best time to visit, however, is fall, when the temperatures and crowds dip just slightly.

Getting There
Fly into San Antonio International Airport, less than 30 minutes from the hotel. Expect to hit traffic if arriving during morning or evening rush hour periods.

Getting Around
The hotel is located right on San Antonio's River Walk; if you plan to spend all of your time downtown, you really won't need a vehicle. If you have plans to visit attractions outside of the downtown district (and you should), you'll need a car. Attractions that aren't located downtown include the DoSeum, SeaWorld and Six Flags. Self parking is available for $16, and valet parking is $39.

For Mom and Dad
The hotel hosts La Merienda (otherwise known as happy hour) Monday to Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Parents can enjoy complimentary cocktails and hors' d'oeuvres. Kids are welcome to join their parents, though there's nothing specific offered for kids.

You might also consider heading to Zocca for a quiet dinner or nightcap, or arranging a treatment at Woodhouse, the hotel's day spa. The spa offers a plentiful mix of services, such as massages, facials and wraps, along with a Duet Massage for couples. The spa is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.
