Coming Up Roses

by 75NorthernGirl

Had a great stay! Was here one night only with my senior mom. Check in was fast and easy. Clerk was as friendly as can be. Room was large and clean. The bathroom had three red roses on the counter sitting in a water bottle....nice touch. One downfall - the alarm clock went off at midnight! Scared the life out of both of us. Besides that it was as comfy as could be. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. A great place to stay!

We have been on a trip for aittle over two weeks and spent nights at 7 different hotels. So I can give you a realistic review of hotels comparing them to a hotel we stayed in the next night about the same age.. So here are the good and what I will say "needs to be updated".
Good room size was good as was the breakfast area and location of the hotel in a quiet area near Settlers Green Outlets. It was easy to drive to Mt Washington cog railway and also drive here from Portland.
Hotel very much in Need of updating
Their key system needs to be updated. The first key they gave me to get in the side door did not work so I had to go back to the front desk and get two more keys. Over the the four days we had to get our keys replaced atleast 6 times. At our next hotel, we were told they had a new key system that would not be made useless by phones, wallets, etc.
Their front door needs to be self opened while the next hotel had self operating front doors to make it easier to get in pulling luggage.
The breakfast had good choices but when I asked if they have oatmeal (that every hotel we stayed in had ) they said we don't have oatmeal. All you need is packages to take care of this and most other Holiday Inn Expresses have oatmeal
The bathroom was not cleaned very well with hair on the floor when we arrived and still there after we told the front desk. The sink drained very slowly that I hope they fixed for the next visitor.
The side door entrance required you to go through three doors to get to the hallway on the first floor.
Oh the ice machines. I went to the front desk to ask for the ice machine and was told it was on the first floor, second floor and third floor. Since we were on the first floor, I went there and it was out of order. Now you know the front desk knew it was out of order and it stayed out of order for four days.
Air conditioning in our room. We et it at 71. Now that was fine during the day but at night it switched to 75 making it hot to sleep. Even though it was set at 71 all the time the system was programed to warm up to 75, saving them money, but making it uncomfortable to sleep.
We use Holiday Inn Express many, many times, probably where we stay most often. We were very disappointed and it was expensive to stay here.
