Good Hotel in south end of Manhattan

by Tony G

Stayed at Hotel 50 for the first time and was reasonably happy with the experience.

Pros:
Staff were friendly and helpful
Rooms sizes were reasonable by NYC standards
Rooms and the hotel in general were well maintained and clean
Price vs. value was favorable
Rooftop bar has a nice view north to the city skyline

Cons:
Location- it's both good and bad. If you plan to spend most of your time in Soho, Nolita, Bowery, and southern end of the city, you are within walking distance of everything. Getting uptown takes time - highly recommend the subway. Chinatown, bordering the area, can be pretty grungy (and smelly in the summer).
Traffic noise - you are right at the bottom of the bridge to Brooklyn, so it is a busy intersection.
Views - if this is important to you, you won't see much of interest unless your room is oriented north, and up on a higher floor like 16+
Restaurant - used to have one, but now closed. Replaced by some type of gaming cafe.

I think this is a good hotel option overall - being a bit further north would make it ideal.

Great NYC Getaway!

Great Hotel! Room was quiet, cozy and modern!

Check-in was slick, check-out was simple and the stay was phenomenal!

Staff recommended a pizza place for a midnight snack and it was delicious!

Will come again, thank you!
