With just under 100 rooms, Los Lagos Hotel Spa & Resort is perched on over 1,000 acres of beautiful Costa Rican rainforest, right on the edge of Arenal Volcano. Perfect for the adventurous family, this resort offers more onsite amenities than you can shake a stick at.
Guests are invited to partake in the resort’s onsite canopy tours, take a ride through the rainforest and Arenal Volcano on horseback, visit the butterfly garden or crocodile farms, or relax in one of the resort’s seven onsite pools (with slides and waterfalls!), lakes, hydro-massage hot tubs and hot springs. You’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of famous Arenal Volcano, right from the comfort of your backyard.
Oh, that’s right — this place is a hotel, too. Well, each of the 98 rooms at the Hotel Los Lagos come with a roomy private bath, mini-fridge, cable TV, two double beds or one double and a rollaway, air conditioning a breathtaking view of the volcano. We’ve been back to this hotel a few times, have stayed over and done just the day trip as well. The hotel rooms are a bit tired and in need of updating, but otherwise clean and quiet. Really it’s the pools, los lagos, that are the draw. We also enjoyed a wonderful trail ride at this establishment.
I stayed with my family for 3 nights. There is a wide variety of things to do at the hotel (canopy, Spa, thermal and natural water polos, butterfly farm, a barn, etc.). The facilities are well kept. Excellent service!... I want to make a special mention of Ronald Rodriguez, restaurant chief: I surfer from coeliac desease... He made sure I had savory options to eat at every meal I took at the hotel. Me and my family will probably come back.
