Great location and family friendly

by Prebbletonite

Stayed 8 nights over Christmas, and although of course it was extremely busy and they seemed short staffed, I feel the staff that were on handled it well, and were always polite and helpful.
Our room, overlooking the ice skating rink, a 2 queen bed suit we found very small for 4 people but we were told it was their largest room. It was definitely a push for 4 by New Zealand standards.
However, the hotel provided entertainment for the kids daily, some of which we enjoyed just as much,a lovely pool area and the language barrier was not an issue.
The location was perfect, a short mostly flat walk into old town and down to the old port area.
We would definitely stay again.

Family "Tropical" Long Weekend

by Kookie_10

We stayed here for 2 nights in March. We had a family suite with a balcony overlooking the tropical pool area. This hotel is a great way to escape winter, if going South for March Break isn't in the cards.

It's well located (in comparison to the other family-friendly Hotel Jaros in the area), being at edge of where downtown and the Old City meet. Rooms were spacious and clean, with a microwave and mini fridge (but no mini bar). The pool was a lot of fun, although maybe a touch cold with a strong chemical smell. Maybe bring your own shampoo/conditioner. The ones in the room are in a wall dispenser and we were not successful in getting the conditioner part of the dispenser to pump/work.

We used the bar on-site for a midday drink and the service was good. There was also an outdoor skating rink right across the street - had we known we would have brought skates.

Overall, it was a fun place and you really do feel like you are in the tropics if you have an inside balcony room. We would absolutely go back.
