This hotel is definitely one of the best places I have stayed in. I cannot find fault with anything in the complex. Bar staff were friendly and always smiling, especially Leonardo and Nerry in the swim up pool bar. If we left the hotel for an excursion we were always welcomed back by friendly faces and some humour. The entertainment staff were incredible and provided some amazing entertainment throughout the day and in the evenings. The white party at the Riu Tequila was just outstanding and definitely not what I had expected. Joseph, Alonzo, Erick and Pepe (just to name a few) were always smiling and joking around with us by the pool and in the theatre and definitely made the holiday fun for us. The food was good and had lots of choice suitable for everyone. Overall it was an amazing holiday and in future I would hope to return.
We had a very enjoyable holiday at the Riu Yucatan with our two teenage children.
Rooms were excellent, air conditioning and a fan was a big plus in the August heat. Housekeeping were first class, room and the whole hotel was always very clean.
Food and drink was very much enjoyed, we ate most nights in the main restaurant which varied the theme every night so it didn’t feel like we were always having the same. The Mexican restaurant is worth getting up early to book as it was very good and a nice setting looking over the beach.
Pool and beach area was clean and there were plenty of sun beds. There is seaweed that washes up overnight but the hotel staff work wonders cleaning this up early in the morning so the beach is a Caribbean paradise as expected.
Don’t be put off by the negative reviews of this hotel, it might not live up to everyone’s expectation of five stars being served drinks on the beach etc (which is a 20 second walk to the nearest hotel bar) but you wouldn’t expect that for the price, it’s great value for money. We will be back.
