We’ve stayed in Hyatt’s before and wanted a nice upmarket hotel to finish our pacific north west road trip. So we splashed out on. 2 nights at Hyatt in Seattle.
However we came away somewhat disappointed. The hotel had good points for sure. Location is pretty good as it’s close to the shops. Plenty of professional staff on reception. The downstairs looks nice and although we didn’t try the bar or restaurant they had a good look to them. We paid not a lot extra for a very large corner room. The pool is large and excell not.
This is though why this Hyatt is not at the standard of previous Hyatt’s we’ve stayed at in the past :-
1. Bed pillows were cheap small and awful. Perhaps should have a pillow menu, but if not should at least have decent size quality pillows. This affected our sleep
2. Coffees were missing from room we had to order enough sachets to have 2 coffees on 2 occasions. We even left a note in room once for maid-and it was ignored.
3. When we checked out no one asked “how was your stay?”. This is a basic easy thing to do- but it gives the impression the hotel and it’s staff actually care about what you think about the hotel.
4. There is something lacking in the atmosphere in the lobby. The staff were professional , but there lacked a warmth , almost too business like hotel . Hard to put your finger on .
Overall it is not a bad place at all, but given the cost, and given it’s a hyatt, a few (not huge) changes could have changed our impression considerably
It let the Hyatt chain down (slightly) I feel
Parking was more expensive then expect but next time I will not rent a car. The public transportation was excellent and Uber a snap! Loved the location, restaurant recommendations and enthusiasm of the staff.
