Overview

What family wouldn’t want to stay in a magnificent 15th-century villa? The restored Il Salviatino sits within the Tuscan hills high in a park overlooking Florence, only 15 minutes away. Convenient hourly shuttles from the hotel to the Duomo make it easy for families to have the best of both worlds: the chance to explore the city, combined with the relaxation and pampering of this exquisite property.

Exploring the villa is its own history lesson, with original artwork throughout the public areas and within guestrooms. Kids will enjoy hearing the tales of the Salviati family, who in the 16th century turned the 15th century farmhouse into something truly special with frescoes and furnishings. A 15-million euro renovation in 2007 brought much of the modern and luxury touches. Guests today can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, rain showers, Nespresso coffee machines, air conditioning and modern bathrooms. The property is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Reviews

Great views, below average food and highly overrated

by Anna A

The location of the hotel and the views are truly amazing, but the food is far from being a fabulous Italian cuisine experience. I've visited a few hotels in Tuscany and dinner at Il Salviatino was far from being impressive - it lacked any flavour or taste, any pasta dishes very super average. Great marketing, but nothing special at all

Great experience but "few men's show"

Great spot! Il Saviatino is the best place ever! Usually I don't use TAdvisor but this time was for me compelling to help this place to reach the best
We had a large room with the view on the gardens that was lovely. The restaurant food was good but was a little disappointing to be served by the same persons for the whole stay! At restaurant we had dinner the night we arrived and we have being served by a young guy that was really nice, he was there also for breakfast the morning after and then again for lunch at noon! Also the restaurant manager (big guy with black dress) was always there and always him! Same at the reception, one man for the whole stay of two days! He helped us with the luggage helped by a porter, with check in, with museums, printing our plane papers! Don't misunderstand me, they where all friendly and professional but look like the hotel is a family business ran by 4 or 5 brothers! Improve your staff and this will be the best place on Florence.
Thanks to all the Brothers :-) great job!

Family Activities

Two-Tiered Swimming Pool
The family activities at Il Salviatino focus on time together. The two-tiered, three section swimming pool is open from April to October and is the ideal spot to unwind on a day off from sightseeing. Even after a day of seeing Florence's attractions, families can return to Il Salviatino around 4 or 5 p.m. and cool off and relax in the pool and comfortable lounge chairs surrounding it. The pool is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Spa
Next to the pool is La Spa Il Salviatino. Not only is it a place for mom and dad to relax and rejuvenate, it boasts a long list of treatment and beauty options. Even young guests can be pampered. Treatments for children ages 6 to 12 include facials, massages, manicure and pedicure. Teenagers can delight in a special facial for them, a body peel, chocolate and cocoa Swedish massage, and manicure and pedicure. Parental supervision is required. The spa is open 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Gardens and Terrace
The villa is surrounded by 12 acres of park, featuring trails and the 3,200-square-foot Italian Garden filled with intimate seating areas and greenery. In the summer months on select nights, live music is offered in the Italian Garden, with the view of Florence and the Duomo as an incredible backdrop.

Library
This is one library kids will want to check out with floor-to-ceiling wood bookcases, oversized leather couches, and long wooden tables filling the handsome room. They'll feel as if they've stepped into a time-warp, especially in the evening when the candelabra are lit. It's a nice space for winding down with a bedtime story.

Family Dining

La Cucina
La Cucina, the main restaurant, uses vegetables, fruit and herbs from its own onsite organic garden, which help to inspire seasonal Tuscan dishes. Included breakfast is served as a "personalized buffet" brought to your table and can include eggs, fruits, pastries, breads, and more. If something is missing, guests only have to ask for it to be prepared exactly the way they or their children want it.

For lunch and dinner, "kid-friendly menus" can be prepared on request. Young guests will be thrilled with the pizzas and pastas. Even more amazing is the view, as meals are served on the terrace from June to September. Meal service is also available at the pool April through September. Year round, there is 24-hour room service.

Il Salviatino offers a half (breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner) or full (three meals) board option that includes meals onsite or in one of a list of local restaurants that feature seafood and pizzeria options.
