Perched upon the Oregon coastal cliffs, the stunning Inn at Otter Crest features 35 acres of lush forests, with many nature trails running through it, behind and around the property, and striking ocean views to the west. The Inn also has its own tide pools and resident harbor seals on Otter Crest beach. If that’s not enough nature, a pod of gray whales can often be seen from guestroom private balconies. Larger suites can accommodate families and the lofts and studios come complete with fireplaces and full kitchens. During your stay, enjoy the outdoor heated swimming pool with hot tub and Jacuzzi, tennis courts, duck pond, and activity room with video games and a children’s playground.

I grew up on the Oregon Coast and since moving away my family and I take at least 2-3 trips back every year. Of all those trips I had never came across the Inn at Otter Crest until now.
The place is about 5 minutes off the main highway. Nestled within an old growth forest the grounds are on a steep hill leading down to a private beach. To accommodate the steep hill they do offer golf cart service to/from your room and this was put to good use by the in-laws on this trip.
The exterior could use some updating and while the in-laws room was some what outdated, my wife and I had a seemingly recently updated room. These double as what I believe are owned condos, so each room will vary in decor/newness.
They have on site pool, restaurant, and tennis court that we did not use. We did use the "game room". This consisted of two pinball machines (one was broken) and a sit down racing game from the mid 90's. Not nice at all, but provided a few minutes of fun.
The walk down to the beach was not hard, but in the in-laws opted out. My wife and I enjoyed the scenery. Rocky beach with some caves, a waterfall and of course good sea shell hunting.
Views from the room varied. The in-laws had a Queen Suite room and a large tree, parking lot for the restaurant and another building blocked part of the view. We had a King Panoramic room and our view was better, but still looking down at parking before seeing the beach/ocean. Multiple buildings on the property and only one seemed to be right on the beach and even then it was on a cliff so no direct beach access.
All in all we enjoyed our stay. It is hard to have a trip to the coast be ruined when you hear the ocean waves and the wind/rain even made it better. Cost was fair being that it was off season and my wife and I have discussed coming back sometime with the kids.
Our week spent at Otter Crest was wonderful. We were there over the week of Christmas and had an absolute wonderful time. The only thing that one needs to understand is that this resort is built on a steep hill and that persons with trouble navigating should be cautious when booking a stay here. They do provide transportation throughout the area but not using it will not be an option if you have any trouble at all getting around. We had two elderly people in our group and they always had to wait for transportation. For the rest of us, it was a wonderful experience.
