Overview

Jamestown Bay Inn is in a quiet, rural area of Sitka, less than 2 miles from the airport and downtown area. It’s ideal for a large family, with two rooms combining to sleep up to eight people. The beauty of the Inn is that it only books the largest room and then gives you the choice of booking the second room. If not, it remains empty. There are plenty of family-friendly amenities here, including refrigerator, microwave, free Wi-Fi, toaster, coffeemaker and outdoor hot tub. Breakfast items, like pastries, yogurt, cereal and juice, are left in your refrigerator to eat at your leisure in the morning.

The Inn is right next to the water, giving you stunning views of the small islands around Jamestown Bay. It’s an easy 5-minute drive to a wide variety of shops and restaurants in downtown Sitka. Family-friendly attractions, such as the Alaska Raptor Center and the Sitka National Historic Park, are easy to find. Three miles east of the Inn is the popular Fortress of the Bear, an educational bear rescue center. Your hosts are happy to recommend guided tours and other activities. With its waterfront location, quiet rooms and ability to hold a large group, the Jamestown Bay Inn is a great choice for your Alaskan family vacation.

Excellent Stay

by gottagetupandgo

We needed one night in June as we were joining our expedition cruise the next day. I was underwhelmed by the hotel options in town and waited too long to get an airbnb. Connie allowed me to book the one night even tho they usually require a 2 night minimum. She charged me a small extra amount since we were only staying the one night. Our room was very clean and comfortable and included a very comfortable bed, a small sitting area with a couch, a cute little table and 2 chairs with places set for our breakfast, a nice little kitchenette and good size bathroom with nice shower. I'm not sure if there was air conditioning and the room was a bit warm; however, we opened the windows over the kitchen counter and the bathroom window and that was enough to cool the room. The deck offers a gorgeous view from which we enjoyed the sunset and our morning coffee. Breakfast included coffee, a choice of 2 cereals, bananas, and breakfast sandwiches which Connie had made a wrapped in the fridge, along with instructions on how to heat them in the toaster oven. There was also yogurt and milk.
We took a walk in the morning on a path that runs along the shoreline. Be aware that the bnb is on a pretty steep hill so it's a steep walk down to the path and back up. Connie came down in the morning to chat with us and she was so pleasant and informative. I would recommend Jamestown Bay Inn BNB and would stay here again.

Pre Cruise Stay

I am going to give this place an average rating for a few reasons. It’s not your usual B and B where you are served a fancy breakfast. The hostess has breakfast items available for you to make yourself. Toast. Instant oatmeal etc. the room was perfectly fine and clean. My biggest complaint is we called the owner before deciding on our cruise dates. We inquired about things to do in Sitka. Most of what she told us we could do was not available as “ it’s not tourist season “. We missed out on the Bishop House and a few other sites. Also not all the shops and restaurants are open because “ it’s not tourist season “. If the owner would have given us proper information we would have taken s later cruise.
