Beautiful location

Been going to Cancun for 30 years! Best beach and best location and best room!! Buffet needs to be greatly improved but there are other dining options (restaurants and room service). Best place to RELAX.

Last minute getaway that didn’t disappoint!

by cindykH884IX

My husband and I have travelled extensively to many countries and we have travelled numerous times to Mexico (Cancun, Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen). We wanted a last minute getaway and found this hotel. We stayed from October 29th to November 5th. The reviews are all over the place as many reviews are but even our travel agent even went as far to point out that this isn’t the “level” of resort that we normally book.

With that said I would like to point out that we were not disappointed. The beach is gorgeous and well maintained as well as the swimming pools. Beach towels and umbrellas are plentiful with the exception of the few “chair hogs” who always seem to save chairs at the beach and pool simultaneously at every resort we have ever been at. On several days the sea was calm enough to hang out and “bob” in the water with the waves. The resort is clean and the staff are all attentive. I would especially like to thank Luis & Raul at the pool; Ernesto & Mario at the breakfast buffet for always getting me my dos coca-colas in the morning; Arturo at the Risotto (Italian); Ivette & Nelson at the lobby bar; and a special shout out to Pedro at The Grill for dinner. Martha (who I believe to be a staff manager at the restaurants) always greeted us with a smile and seemed to be circulating among all the restaurants at various mealtimes. The buffet is average but there are enough options to choose from. I especially was fond of the cook at the omelet station (sorry I didn’t catch her name) who would fix me my daily flour cheese quesadilla for breakfast. We dined several days for lunch at The Grill and they have a nice menu selection. In addition we dined at The Grill for dinner on 3 occasions and I had the center cut filet every time which was excellent! I’m almost embarrassed to say that my entire meal was so good that I repeated it for 3 evenings and Pedro laughed and remembered my order. My husband tried different items for dinner and was not disappointed. We also dined at the hibachi grill and we were entertained by our cook and the food was delicious! The Risotto also has a nice lasagna.

My ONLY 2 “complaints” are the slow and non-ventilated elevators and the a/c in our room. We were in room 612 of the Grand tower and we couldn’t cool the room below 75 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity level of 70% — based our our perfectly accurate travel clock. However....I did ask the front desk to have maintenance check on the problem but it didn’t cool any better. I must mention that they offered to change our room but my husband doesn’t like to move once we’ve unpacked. Plus he tends to be cold most times in hotels so he thought this was a nice change from sleeping in a meat locker .... as he refers to my temperature needs. lol

Also.....please tip the staff. I am continually shocked and disturbed at travelers who seem to think that resort staff are there to cater to them without any reward. The staff work hard enough to serve your needs without people being rude and nasty and leaving their trash for them to pick up. For those of you who leave your plates of food at the pool edge for the birds to feast on to those who take off your child’s swim diaper and leave it laying for staff to pick up is absolutely RIDICULOUS!! Come on people.... grow up and don’t be pigs.

Please don’t let any of the negative reviews keep you from staying at this hotel. It’s not a 5 Star but is a great value at a nice well maintained property. We will definitely be staying at this resort in the future!!
