Reviews

An excellent place to stay.

by Tony S

We had 5 nights at the Hotel, from 5/10/19 to 9/10/19. We were there as part of a wedding anniversary and were surprised that they knew about it. The staff had gone to quite a bit of trouble to decorate our room appropriately. It rained for the first 3 days we were there but the transport to the CBD ,about 5kms away, was free and once in town, in the wet, we were fortunate to run into a local authorised guide, who spent the day with us and showed us around. At the end of the day he accepted $30 for his trouble. On another day we hired a local taxi for $80 and he took us around.

Don’t have high expectations ????????

As with anywhere in Fiji, the staff offer warm, friendly welcomes & are helpful during all contact. However that’s about where the positive ends

We arrived at happy hour, so headed straight for the bar only to be informed that happy hour only included beer ????
Not a good start if you don’t drink beer

So we headed up to our room, it was clean, tidy & basic, over looking the water.... if you could get the sliding door open & closing it was even more difficult. The two glass doors didn’t come together properly, leaving a gap at the bottom & requiring a latch to secure the door.
The beds were average, pillows large, hard & uncomfortable, though plenty of them. The pillow cases on the other hand had seen better days - were once white, now grey and not really what you want to be putting your face on each night

Having a full set of towels for the bathroom & the complimentary daily water replaced was a struggle. Every day we needed to call reception to have things replaced. One evening we got back to our room late to find one wet towel left hanging on a hook in the bathroom and nothing else- no towels, hand towel, a used face washer & no water. And worst of all, no spare toilet paper .

There was frequent noise in the corridor, guests partying until 2am in the room next to us, which finally quietened down after two visits by security. A drunk screaming out & bashing on a door in the early hours of the morning.

The gift store, despite displaying opening hours, was rarely open

Down stairs by the ice machine I saw a rat running around. Evidence of same on our balcony from dropping

Disappointed with the massage, it was pretty average& was difficult to get her to apply more pressure, I seemed to walk out with more shoulder stiffness than when I went in.
Mostly, I didn’t appreciate her coughing all over me. The masseur was coughing frequently, mostly turning her head but a couple of times I felt the germ ridden product from her cough land on my bare skin

On our last day we finally saw the sun, so I quickly got myself pool side. This barely lasted 15 minutes as the sun lounges were made of timber & were extremely uncomfortable. The pain wasn’t worth the tan

Breakfast was pricey with limited offerings. Bacon & eggs had to be ordered & cooked specifically for you, which is fine but the bacon serving size was small & by the time you get more cooked, you eggs are cold.
Best to eat elsewhere....

But to finish on a positive, again the staff are lovely
