Nice place and very good location

by Axel S

Our 1.stop in Mexico, for 4 nights before going up to the Copper Canyon /valley.
This is a nice, clean hotel with a huge swimming pool. There is a restaurant and a terrace on both sides of the pool. Very good dishes, a la carte and lots of beer - it's hot! :)
The rooms are ok, with a good A/C. The staff is friendly and helpful. We liked the location very much, going up the street, there are plenty of restaurants, and along the beach there are many huge resorts and beautiful beaches. Going down the street, or by taxi/bus you are coming to the old city center of Mazetlan.

Gate guard

The hotel itself was fine, old but well kept, clean and comfortable. Pool was good.

But I need to give 1 star or less because of the entry sign which says “IT IS PROHIBITED TO BRING FOOD OR BEVERAGES INTO THE HOTEL” - and their follow up!

I had gone to the local beer store for a 6 pack, which I was carrying in a plastic bag. When I got to the gate, the gate guard pointed at the bag and then the sign and said no, no! I saw other people also turned away - one with a pizza, another with a styrofoam cooler.

I have been all over the world, have stayed in many hotels and have never been refused entry with outside food or drink. It’s also interesting that there is a concession located after the sign before entering the lobby - and they have room service.

So, if you don’t want to have beer and chips in your room, then the hotel is OK, but if you do like to have a snack and a drink - or a “doggy bag” - in your private room, then stay elsewhere - or use a backpack.
