Amazing palace

by Shotteswellians

We ended up here due to strikes and spent 1 night in the Carlotta suite. The receptionist was very friendly and took us up to our room , showing us the 24/7 coffee/tea making facilities on the way. The building had a wonderful feel and was lovely that it had not been spoilt or to modernised. Our suite was large on the second floor. There was a lovely roof terrace that was only accessible up 60 steps. We spent a lovely half an hour up there in the evening chatting to the bar tender- who pointed out the buildings we could see and chatted about life. We were the only ones up there and not sure if the stairs are off putting for some.
The only reason I cant give a 5 is the sofa in our living space was very hard with a huge piece of wood to keep us sagging into the sofa and the bed wasn’t overly comfortable, and comfort is very important when travelling from home.
We didn’t opt for the breakfast in our room as wanted to head to the airport in case of any issues with re booked flights. I wouldn’t exactly call the Palace a hotel- more serviced apartments as we felt very much on our own. Having said that I would definitely recommend as it gave a very different feel from the usual hotel atmosphere.

We loved this hotel

What a great hotel! It was recommended to us by a friend who had lived in Florence for a time and we really enjoyed our stay. The suite was so large and comfortable. After a day of sightseeing, it was like coming home. Loved the coffee and tea available all day in the lobby area. Breakfast was a treat in the lovely dining room. The hotel is VERY quiet. If we hadn't seen other people in the dining room for breakfast, we would have thought we were the only people staying there. Well located--this side of the river is convenient to the various attractions and also to many restaurants. We look forward to a return visit.
