Pantai Inn La Jolla Sept 2019
A Delight – retuning once again!
1. People: Mike, Chelsea, Alain, Rachel, Joseph & to all the people always with a smile & can do attitude ensuring the guests are welcomed, needs addressed and everything humming along beautifully. Staff are professional and warm, striking just the right balance.
a. Mike the GM – top notch GM and we know many given our many stays globally. His leadership certainly has much to do with the experience at the Pantai. Thank you Mike! I couldn’t imagine Pantai Inn without you and the fabulous team you have assembled. Arranging for the car charging by you or and the team, the tape measure use, the hot water pot in our room….all these things thanks to you, Chelsea & team….much appreciated.
b. Chelsea – Thank you as always for remembering us, our family and how you and the team remember to have our favorite cookies at some point during our stay. The extra few pumpkin chocolate chip cookies set aside for our daughter as she launched at college was extra special and am sure one of the many ways you and the team go the extra mile for guests.
c. Alain in the evening with his many languages including perfect French is always a delight to chat with too.
d. Rachel is new and brings her smile, warmth and professionalism to the table too.
e. Joseph is the plant whisperer, which is part of Pantai’s special attributes.
2. Location & Boutique Product
a. Great location. What do I love about it? Some of these things: Grab your tea/coffee in am or pm and walk across street and enjoy the ocean views, sunset or/animal watching.
b. Beautiful grounds day and night from the gas torches and gas outdoor fireplaces and many places to sit and enjoy the view whether at breakfast or with your own glass of wine
c. Walk to the village from shops and restaurants to yummy healthy organic smoothie places like Beaming café (a must). We usually walk to WindanSea beach or at least to where they are redoing the museum along the water path, then return to Beaming for a chocolate protein smoothie (vanilla offered too) or healthy salad lunches to go and bring back to the Pantai.
d. Walk along the shore and enjoy the views. (yes if you go right to the cove, you get a mini sea lion colony to enjoy complete with pelicans and all that comes with it but is not an issue at Pantai…still perfectly situated.
e. The organic chocolates with the sweet inspiring notes beautifully colorfully crafted in the evening are such a treat
f. Bottled, Sparkling water and soft drinks plus some snacks in your room as part of your room inclusion + breakfast included.
3. WHO should visit?
a. From families with small kids, to honeymooners, to empty nesters, to professionals…it offers something for all from tidepools to explore for kids and your inner kid, to easy walks and meditation spots, to easy walks to the restaurants and La Jolla vibe. Good interent access and many spots to work in shade or outside to read with views.
a. Even though I noticed a change and couldn’t put my finger on it immediately, Pantai is still amazing thanks to its people, location and boutique product offering.
b. The lovely family owner sold it late Spring (May) according to the local newspaper. The large group that now owns it has kept the same staff, THANKFULLY! I think the managing company partner who helped them open was changed and I do hope the new ownership/new management overall group will keep the generous lovely spirit that makes the Pantai so very special. I hope they will ensure the budget remains strong for replacement items, touch ups and the feeling of the grounds and amenities for guests remain. Thank you Pantai Inn, Mike Chelsea, Alain, Rachel, Joseph and all the team members who always welcome us back…indeed it always makes it compelling to visit again when we think of how you all make the stay perfect.
5. Rooms…many different set ups. Just talk to them and book direct so you can best ensure room choice/fit.
