We actually stayed two cabins. The first was C4- super convenient location to showers and laundry but still very quiet. This cabin had two bedrooms both with double beds. Even though there were only two of us, I feel this was a better value than the one bedroom because we could spread out. Due to the fires, we cancelled some nights at Apgar Village Inn and returned to Swiftcurrent after staying at many glacier. Our second cabin was D3- it was close to the trail head, but other than that we preferred the C ring of cabins. We actually preferred our little cabin at Swiftcurrent more than our balcony room at many glacier and many glacier is twice the price. Of course, many glacier is spectacular for a historic lodge with amazing views, but our little cabin much more fit this hiking trip. Many glacier was also a bit more stuffy than we like. The workers at Swiftcurrent were infinitely more helpful and the restaurant was also better. When we return, we will skip many glacier and do an entire week in Swiftcurrent. We didn’t get to hike iceberg lake trail due to grizzles. I should also mention that every evening at 6 pm the rangers bring super powerful telescopes to watch the Grizzly’s on the hill behind Swiftcurrent motor inn. We also enjoyed the nightly lectures in the outdoor setting. If you are going to GNP for a immersion in nature, we highly recommend Swiftcurrent cabins.
Was forced to change our accommodation from Lake McDonald Lodge to here due to fires. We weren't expecting much and were not disappointed.
We stayed in a Motor Inn room which was basic, darkly lit, but clean and perfectly acceptable. It is conveniently close to some trail heads and we could park right outside our room. Given it was just one night, it was fine but not sure I would want to stay many nights here. Of course, you're not here for the accommodation, but we did feel this may be the worst GNP offering, having stayed at some of the others during our visit.
Watch for bears on the mountain side behind the Inn.
