TripAdvisor Rating

Opened in 2018, The Lodge at Gulf State Park offers beachfront accommodations that can’t be beat. Guestrooms are equipped with one king or two queen beds, and some guestrooms have bunk beds for kids. Suites feature private balconies and private bedrooms with one king bed; some suites have sleeper sofas in the living area, while others have bunk beds.

The hotel has two sophisticated, yet family-friendly onsite restaurants; a coffee and wine bar; a pool bar and grill (yes, there’s an outdoor swimming pool at this hotel!); and room service. Kids’ menus, kids’ programming, family packages, cribs, and highchairs are available for families.

Outstanding service, views and accomodations

by tonivhouse

This hotel was built with the aesthetics of the surroundings in mind; i.e. reeds, sand and woody bushes. The type of architecture and angles and levels of pool and porches for the best the views had to be a top priority and well accomplished. The building itself flows into the sand dunes and is in no way ostentatious. It's simple clean lines lend to a relaxing atmosphere,as do the interior furnishings. As one would expect from the location of the hotel, the staff is professional, accomodating and friendly. They genuinely want to make sure you are comfortable and pleased with their service. I gave this hotel 5 stars - over the top in all categories.

Enjoyable Stay!

by Elaine B

My husband and I recently spend a few enjoyable nights at The Lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet beach area and saw dolphins not far off shore. The staff, especially the housekeeping staff, were all very friendly and went out of their way to ask how your day was going or wish you a Good Morning! The room was fairly standard, but very nice and clean, and although we didn't have a view of the ocean, the view of the park across the street was actually very nice. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is due to the distance of the parking lot. I understand the Lodge's reasoning with the location of the parking lot; however, it seems they could possibly include a separate lot for the hotel guests on the east end of the facility as the current location seems to definitely favor conference attendees or individuals simply eating at one of the restaurants. We did find an elevator located in the covered parking area; however, there were no visible signs directing you to it and we frankly found it be accident. I would certainly plan to stay at the Lodge on any future trips to the area, but "note to self" -- pack lightly!
