Opened in 2018, The Lodge at Gulf State Park offers beachfront accommodations that can’t be beat. Guestrooms are equipped with one king or two queen beds, and some guestrooms have bunk beds for kids. Suites feature private balconies and private bedrooms with one king bed; some suites have sleeper sofas in the living area, while others have bunk beds.

The hotel has two sophisticated, yet family-friendly onsite restaurants; a coffee and wine bar; a pool bar and grill (yes, there’s an outdoor swimming pool at this hotel!); and room service. Kids’ menus, kids’ programming, family packages, cribs, and highchairs are available for families.

Chose you room wisely

The balcony rooms on the 2nd and 4th floors are unusable There is planking across the front of the balcony railing which blocks the view. Facility tried to solve this by putting stools on balcony for seating which were very uncomfortable and made the balcony unusable for us. Not a good solution, very unhappy.

A few drawbacks, but altogether a great stay

We just got back from a great stay at this hotel, and we will definitely be returning.

A few drawbacks... 1. The parking lot is SO far from the guest rooms. If you self park (for $5/night), I would estimate that your walk to the room will be at least a 1/4 mile. I can't imagine the handicapped/elderly being able to make that walk every day. 2. There is no hot tub at the pool. I'm not sure why, maybe because of the chemicals? 3. There is only one shower/sprayer on the boardwalk to hose off your beach equipment, so a line would accumulate at the end of the day. 4. The pool is open until 10:00 p.m., and we could hear children playing in the pool until that time. Seems too late in my opinion especially with a toddler in our room trying to sleep.

Now the strengths... 1. Breakfast buffet is incredible. 2. The walk to the beach is very manageable (closer than the parking lot!). 3. The staff were incredibly friendly. 4. The hotel is in impeccable condition.
