Vamar Vallarta, where do I start?
This review is lengthy but very informative.
as many of us we Yelp, trip advisor, google etc where we are planning on spending the next couple of nights during our vacation. You want something safe, convenient, not to expensive but also luxurious. Well the pictures of this hotel lie.
Upon our arrival at Vamar Vallarta they had messed up our reservation, we had requested 2 double beds, at time of check in the receptionist said our room was with a 1 king size bed. We showed her our reservation where in deed it said 2 double beds. She was able to switch us to a room with double beds. Once we got to our room we were in complete shock! Our room was horrible! I’m not joking it looked like a motel 6! The beds were unmade, the curtains were dirty with holes, the walls were stained with yellow, the bathroom was dirty. I’m not saying I’m the cleanest person in the world but at least in my own home if my bathroom was dirty I know it’s my own filth here I don’t know whose it is. It was completed horrible total disappointment. When we picked up the phone to let the front desk that our room was dirty the phone was extremely filthy! As if when you press the phone against your check and you leave makeup on it but don’t clean it for a couple days and it turns like a dark brown color, yes like that.
Well once we called and told them they send up a housekeeping lady, which she said herself that they don’t deep clean the rooms, that they just wipe them down with a towel. That they just make sure the room is presentable. I was baffled. The housekeeping lady then called her “supervisor” which honestly didn’t even do anything, all she said was to go downstairs and they will switch our room. As we walked away i turned back and saw them just staring at us and laughing.
Once we were at the front desk we explained to the front desk lady that we needed to speak to a manger, with an attitude she said he wasn’t available that he was in a “meeting” mind you when we were checking in another couple had asked to speak to the manager and were given the same answer, he’s in a “meeting”. She then told us that he would be about 30 minutes or so. She advised us to either wait in there “lobby” or go down to the “dining room” are for lunch. Mind you we had just landed from a 6 hr flight were exhausted and just wanted to lay down and relax for a couple minutes. We decided to get a bite to eat. THE FOOD was salty, not great, do not recommend, at all! After 30 minutes or so we were able to speak to the manager where he apologized and switched us rooms once more. The room we got switched to was somewhat different from our original room. I looked cleaner. Still not what we had paid for but at this point we were already completely disappointed.
This resort has 2 areas, one facing the marine and the other facing the ocean, to different locations, you have to cross the street to get to either or locations. The buffet and lobby area is on the side where the Marina so everyone who stays on the other side needs to walk to the marina side to eat and or have a drink after the pool bar closes on that side which is at 7pm.
The resort has 4 pools I believe, 3 on the marina side which in one of them has a bar and 1 on the beach side which also has a bar.
They offer a buffet which serves breakfast from 7am-11am, lunch from 2pm-6pm and dinner from 7pm-10pm, this is located on the marina side.
On the beach side they have a “snack” which Personally I like way more than the buffet, in the snack they offer burgers, tacos, pizzas, etc unfortunately they are open from 2pm-7pm
The hotel location itself is close to the airport, taxi will cost you around $100-$120 pesos. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel which is $10 pesos. The malecón is 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic and el centro to.
One thing I must say before I forget is that the waiters and bartenders are super nice and helpful, if it wasn’t for them I honestly don’t know what i would of done.
Overall our stay wasn’t what we expected.
BTW they don’t have room service
This shouldn’t be considered as a resort, this is a cheap motel quality (I have never been to one, but that’s how I picture this place)
First prices for Americans or foreigners is higher than Mexicans, I booked same days as a couple of Mexicans and end finding out that I paid the double for the same reservation. Even the clinic is $500 mexican pesos for consultation and $50 US dollars for Americans.
If you arrive early you will have to wait until 3pm and if you are hungry you will have to pay for breakfast. Food is just cheap and disgusting, not to mention that you will have to wait in line for 20 plus minutes. Rooms are ugly, old and with black mold all over the place. The all Inclusive is a lie, you have to make reservations in person between 3-5pm if you want to have a “ decent meal” and if you are lucky and get a table otherwise you will have to go to a restaurant and pay for a descent food or go to the cheap- disgusting buffet. Bar in pools are so so full of mold and drink way to sweet and cheap. Doors are not safe (see the pictures attached and judge by yourself) old blankets. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
