This was my wife and I's first time in Cabo and we had a fabulous time. I was a bit worried about being so far away from downtown ($20 for a 12 minute ride one way), but it ended up not being that big of a deal. We did end up missing out on a lot of local food because of this though.
Estrella restaurant actually had some decent food. Although a bit on the pricey side of things, you can get by splitting some of the stuff ok.
Being a timeshare property, the guests of this hotel tend to be older and quieter....it's something that I value now that I'm getting older. That's not to say it was boring or anything, there were a couple of older ladies that needed to be wheelchaired out of the pool...it's like when gammgamm has too much eggnog at Thanksgiving.
We decided to make this vacation one where we did little to nothing and focused more on relaxing than doing things. That being said we ended up spending a huge amount of time at the resort and with the staff.
A huge shout out to Jonas, Alex, Antonio, Rufino, Jose Luis, and Aaron for making every day enjoyable. We went snorkeling at two local beaches with Aaron. Jose Luis and Aaron were at the pool conducting activities most days. Jonas, Alex, Antonio, and Rufino served us at the restaurant and at the pool almost every other day.
The gym facility was probably the best that I've ever seen at a hotel.
We also did a couple's massage and let me tell you, one of the best massages that my wife an I have ever had. They actually felt where the tension was and worked what needed to be worked without asking you.
Cleanliness was also huge at the hotel. I'd wake up early everyday to go to the gym and was watch the workers flip every beach chair over and wipe the BOTTOMS of the chairs every single day. All of the windows would get washed everyday. There was even a day where I saw workers touching up paint that seemed like nothing was wrong.
My only real complaint was actually with the front of the house surprisingly. I accidentally left all of the toiletries at my departure airport and the first thing I asked for was a department store for high end makeup. Instead of leading me to one the concierge led us to Walmart where the makeup was a pile of trash that hadn't been sorted in months. The day before we left we found a mall full of high end make up. I mean, I'm glad she sent us to Walmart because I ended up only having to pay like $60 for makeup instead of the $500 I was about to fork out at a department store, but still....
I also asked one of the receptionists about the meal deal that they had where you can pay $85 (I think?) to get breakfast lunch and dinner. He told me that I could do that but I would have to eat alone. I was hoping to only buy it for myself since my wife doesn't eat as much as I do and I would end up saving a few dollars but no. What if I had 2 kids? I would have had to spend $340 and have 4 full sized entrees, 4 appetizers, etc? How unreasonable is that?
You already got me for my $25,000 Welk, along with my maintenance fees, now you're going to nickel and dime me on food too?
It's a really stupid rule if you ask me. I complained about it to the bartender and he said the front desk was wrong but I digress, I ended up spending less money overall because of this rule anyway.
Outside of these few minor complaints, everything else was awesome. I once hated the fact that I let my wife convince me into buying a timeshare, but after this trip, it seems a little bit more worth it now.
This is our 3rd stay at this resort and always have the best experience. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. We always stay in the large 1br ocean view suite which is beautiful. Waking up to the sound of the ocean is amazing.
Want to give a special thank you to Aaron for a wonderful time on our snorkel trip. The beaches were beautiful!
We're looking forward to coming back next year!
